We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced in vitro biologist/molecular pharmacologist to lead GPCR drug discovery efforts on our Therapeutics team. The successful candidate will have a proven track record driving GPCR drug discovery programs from target validation through lead optimization. We are looking for a passionate scientist who can successfully work in multi-disciplinary teams to advance drug discovery projects.
Our drug discovery and early clinical development team includes a cross-functional group of scientists and drug developers with experience working on all common target classes and therapeutic areas. The group is supported by more than 100 software developers and engineers as well as a large-scale compute infrastructure to apply our proprietary physics-based drug design and optimization platform. Several programs we have worked on have achieved Development Candidates, including progression to clinical development and FDA approval. What you will do:
  • Lead pharmacology efforts to support the advancement of GPCR drug discovery projects from hit ID through development candidate selection
  • Independently manage CRO scientists in the design, development, and implementation of in vitro assays for the advancement of GPCR projects
  • Contribute to the identification of GPCR targets suitable for Schrodinger's drug discovery pipeline
  • Guide KOL interaction and research strategy for exploratory and early stage GPCR drug discovery efforts
What you should have:
  • PhD or MS in pharmacology, biochemistry, or related field with a high level of expertise in GPCR pharmacology
  • At least three years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries (minimum five years experience for an MS degree)
  • Demonstrated success applying cellular and molecular pharmacology in vitro biology tools to support and advance drug discovery programs with an emphasis of GPCR drug discovery
  • In depth knowledge of GPCR molecular pharmacology with specific expertise characterizing mechanism of action, potency, and efficacy of hits and leads
  • Exposure to structured-guided GPCR drug discovery desired
  • Understanding of in vivo pharmacology desired
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
