Duties
As a GS-0401-13 Supervisory Biologist Molecular Assay, your duties may include, but are not limited to the following tasks:
In order to qualify for a Supervisory Biologist Molecular Assay, GS-0401 position, you must have completed the requirements for a bachelor's (or graduate) degree in a biological science, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to this position, from an accredited college or university.
OR
Have a combination of experience and education which includes courses comparable to a major in a biological science, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry or related disciplines appropriate to this position, AND appropriate experience or additional education which demonstrates similarly appropriate skills or abilities needed to perform the duties of this position.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT:
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: Performing a wide variety of complex experimental procedures required for evaluating clinical cell and gene therapies such as and not limited to: flow cytometry, real-time PCR, digital PCR and next generation sequencing; providing authoritative advice and consultation for more difficult, complex, or unique tests; collaborating with others to develop new assays; preparing reports, policies and Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs); leading work to be accomplished by subordinates; and managing the day-to-day operation of a diverse laboratory including coordinating laboratory projects and personnel, and ensuring availability of equipment and supplies.
You will receive credit for all experience material to the position, including experience gained in religious, civic, welfare, service, and organizational activities, regardless of whether you received pay.

As a GS-0401-13 Supervisory Biologist Molecular Assay, your duties may include, but are not limited to the following tasks:
- Prepares specimens for analysis ensuring that the physiologic state of the specimen properties is maintained. Specimen preparation involves DNA and RNA extraction from a variety of gene and cellular therapeutic products
- Writes policies, Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs), and research reports; keeps policies and procedure manuals and research records up to date; records result in accordance with established procedures and policies.
- Reviews results of molecular assays performed by other staff, troubleshoots problems with equipment or experimental techniques, and independently develops methods to resolve these difficulties.
- Write and edits clinical and translational molecular assay procedures including assistance in editing manuscripts and reviewing formal seminar presentations.
- Collaborates with investigators and clinical staff from other departments and institutes on projects, methods and equipment to aid in meeting the lab's assays development and research goals.
- U.S. Citizenship requirement or proof of being a U.S. National must be met by closing date.
