Role Summary
The Division HSE Area Leader is responsible to develop and implement actionable safety solutions. The HSE Area Leader is the subject matter expert in HSE and can clearly articulate, develop and implement actionable plans. The HSE Area Leader is expected to provide collaborative, proactive, and creative problem solving skills to develop best-in-class HSE programs for the improvement of the overall HSE strategy within the division.
Key Responsibilities

1. Oversee and direct HSE employees.
2. Manages all Workers' Compensation activities with the LMV's Occupational Health Nurse
3. Keeps direct reports focused and on task to meet department objectives
4. Conducts performance evaluations on employees that are tied to plant and company goals and provides regular feedback on work performance, utilizing individual corrective action plans if necessary. Applies consistent and fair progressive discipline to employees when necessary and discusses such action with appropriate personnel.
5. Implement, execute, ensure compliance with the Cosma/Magna International HSE policies and procedures, and all federal, state, and local OSHA/EPA regulations (i.e. Lockout, HazCom, Machine Safety, SARA, RCRA, etc.)
6. Lead the development and implementation of the HSE Annual Operating Plans and HSE Action Plans for the Division; develop and track KPI HSE Metrics for the division.
7. Achieve annual targets rates for Lost Time, Recordable, Severity, and Environmental.
8. Develop, implement, execute, and manage strategies to prevent workplace injuries, and environmental incidents.
9. Demonstrate solid employee relations experience, interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
10. Demonstrate professional maturity and ability to act as a change leader by influencing all levels of the organization to drive continuous improvement in safety performance and environmental protection.
11. Conduct HSE activities such as training/auditing/assessing to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory agency requirements, Cosma/Magna standards, and internal LMV HSE procedures.
12. Perform risk assessments and assist in the implementation of effective physical and/ or behavioral control measures. Recognize and verify the effectiveness of in­ place control measures.
13. Identify unsafe equipment operation and conditions while demonstrating knowledge of appropriate corrective action for unsafe conditions or equipment use.
14. Drive continuous HSE improvement across LMV.
15. Complete root-cause analyses and develop corrective action plans to address root basic causes and management system weak-spots through the use of industry­ recognized cause analysis techniques (5-Why, 8-D, etc.)

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Has direct responsibility for HSE Coordinators, Occupational Health Nurse and Plant Security.
Key Qualifications/Requirements
(These qualifications represent the minimum requirements of the position. Employees will be required to possess the ability and aptitudes to perform the duties proficiently.)

Education and/or Experience:

• Bachelor level or higher in Safety related field
• 3-5 years of work experience in the Health, Safety, and Environmental disciplines with proven success in the overall program management
• Direct job related experience with OSHA, EPA, DNR, and DOT
• Direct job related experience with HSE Management systems and their deployment
• Direct job related experience in HSE auditing.
• Knowledge in CFR 1910 General Industry
• Practical experience managing ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, and IATF 16949

• Must have good organizational and managerial skills to attend to multiple tasks simultaneously
• Must be proficient in computer operations.
• Ability to positively react to change in environment, process and people
• Must exhibit high integrity and honesty.
• Ability to read, write, analyze and interpret technical procedures, diagrams, requirements and business correspondences.
• Ability to effectively and appropriately present information and respond to questions from various groups.
