Job Description

AECOM Environment is seeking an experienced, SeniorEnvironmental Planner for immediate employment in our Oakland, CA office.

The successful candidate will join our northern California Environmental Planning and Permitting team. You will work with a diverse team of technical leaders to deliver environmental planning, impact assessment, permitting and compliance services to our clients. Our Northern California Environmental Planning and Permitting team supports numerous federal, state and local government, non-governmental organization, and private industry clients, delivering a variety of resource management, infrastructure, and development-related projects. The successful candidate would be responsible for managing and providing technical leadership for transportation and water infrastructure projects and collaborating with engineers and scientists across a range of disciplines to deliver unique, innovative solutions.

As part of our team, the successful applicant will support environmental planning services throughout a project life cycle, including:
  • Managing the preparation of CEQA/NEPA documentation and other permitting documentation for transportation and water infrastructure projects.
  • Researching, conceptualizing, planning, and writing drafts of documents related to project planning, impact assessment, and permitting.
  • Collaborating with technical and professional staff from our Transportation and Water business lines to evaluate project feasibility and refine proposed projects based on environmental and engineering considerations.
  • Providing leadership in mentoring personnel, including reviewing their work for accuracy and clarity and providing constructive feedback.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field (Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, or Environmental Engineering) or similar.
  • 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/ or education.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10+ years' experience successfully managing and coordinating environmental impact documents and associated technical studies
  • Master's Degree in related field
  • Experience preparing a wide range of environmental documents to support transportation and water infrastructure projects
  • Experience working directly with clients
  • Experience preparing successful proposals
  • Strong research and analytical abilities
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the editing, oversight and preparation of technical reports and proposals
  • Ability to balance work on several projects simultaneously

  • Candidates must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Offered rate of compensation (California locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $106,000 - $197,000.00.
