OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE

The Cell Engager team of the Oncology DDU is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Immunologist or cellular biologist to join a very collaborative and dynamic team to help advance the cell enagager pipeline programs. This position will be responsible for the evaluation of various cell enagager molecules linked to Gamma Delta T cells and Innate Biology. As a senior team member the candidate will focus on the development of strategies, preclinical assays and screens that provide framework for the evaluation of various dysfunctional states of cytotoxic T cells particularly in solid tumors. The successful candidate must have in-depth knowledge of T cell Biology as well as immune dysfunctional mechanisms in the tumor microenvirontment to evaluate potential mechnisms of resistance of Immune cell engagers. The successful candidate must have a strong foundation in redirected T cell immunity and hands-on experience in their evaluation in pre-clincal in vitro systems and track record of success in IO drug discovery. The candidate must have project leadership expeinece working with cross functional teams in a matrixed environment and will be responsible for providing key technical knowledge to a project team to move candidates through lead selection and IND. The individual will collaborate and demonstrate effective communication and documentation of results with key stakeholders in IOI, C2H, Global Biologics, DSRE, DMPK, Translational teams and CTI. Ideal applicant will be team-oriented, possess excellent communication and organizational skills.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Provide leadership, scientific knowledge, and expertise in antibody evaluation, gamma delta T cell biology and molecular biology
Apply strong knowledge of Cancer Immunology and Multispecifics and how to develop therapeutic intervention strategies.
As project lead, you will help establish new directions and help mobilize the team through crisp communication of strategic vision and program goals.
Contribute to the preparation/editing/review of documents for regulatory submission (i.e., study reports, IB's, IND's)
Demonstrate collaborative well-developed knowledge of other departments and how they function together
Demonstrate either or both: exceptional project management skills or broad recognition for in-depth expertise in a scientific discipline
Design and direct research strategy and activities to meet program goals; provide leadership, timelines and contingency plans
Manage a matrixed based team to deliver on critical cell based assays, isolation of VD1 cells
Frequent contact with all personnel at several management levels
Collaborate with other departments, being a scientific authority within discipline
Be a senior company / project representative at external conferences, or business meetings
Determine methods on new assignments; make strategic recommendations on projects; greater demonstrated independence; may manage junior staff
Engage in new idea generation and prioritization of tumor antigen selection
Identify and integrate technologies that improve or expand the ability to assess the MoA of novel immunomodulatory agents
Establish and manage relationships with external research collaborators and CROs for cell based and translational assays a required
Ability to take the initiative, planning and implementing work but also proven ability to work as part of a team, engaging constructively with colleagues at all levels to deliver objectives.
Flexible, pragmatic and practical, highly motivated to ensure that studies meet challenging timelines and able to propose practical, compromise solutions to problems
Demonstrates theoretical knowledge of cell engager platforms and Gamma Delta Biology
Keeps current with emerging trends in immne cell engagers for application in cancer therapy
Able to clarify requests and provide suggestions and put data into context especially in context of assay design and quality of data
Demonstrates in-depth technical knowledge within various assay development platforms
Indepently investigates new immunological techniques, that can be applied to team projects
Serves as the in vtro immunobiology lead on projects provinding key scientific feedback to advance programs in a matrixed environment.

Provides information to project teams to influence direction, align with departmental goals and/or business
Conducts scientific presentations to internal audiences
Collaborates with others across sites, and acts as scientific resource for in vitro pharmacology
Participates in and supervises external interactions and collaborations with companies and academic research groups and potential collaborator
Expected to participate in new idea generation
Strives towards expanding scientific knowledge in immunology
Receives high level instructions on work; determines methods on new assignments; demonstrated greater independence; may manage interns

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

PhD in a scientific discipline with 6+ years industry experience, or MS with 12+ years experience, or BS with 14+ years experience (industry experience strongly preferred), Immunology, Immuno-oncology, T cell biology
Current knowledge of oncology research, drug discovery and development with an emphasis on immune cell activation, T cell retargeting platforms, protocols as well as markers for anti-tumor efficacy
Good understanding of Immunology with experience with gamma delta T cells preferred
Extensive experience with biologics is a must (Antibodies, ADCs, Cell therapeis etc)
Experience leading projects and working with cross functional teams is required
A demonstrated track record of independent critical thinking and scientific achievement
Self-motivated, collaborative with excellent time management and organizational skills Proficient in the isolation, culture, and functional characterization of primary human immune cells.
Excellent team player with a can-do attitude with an ability to thrive in a dynamic "biotech- like" environment and work in cross-functional project teams
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Base Salary Range:143,500.00 to 205,000.00. Employees may also be eligible for Short Term and Long-Term Incentive benefits. Employees are eligible to participate in Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401(k), Charitable Contribution Match, Holidays, Personal Days & Vacation, Tuition Reimbursement Program and Paid Volunteer Time Off.

The final salary offered for this position may take into account a number of factors including, but not limited to, location, skills, education, and experience.
