Are you excited about getting in on the ground floor of a startup company poised to revolutionize small molecule drug discovery? We are seeking passionate drug hunters to build Kimia Therapeutics. With your help, we will supercharge a validated high-throughput, nanoliter-scale synthesis and screening platform with state-of-the-art computational approaches to find novel therapeutics targeting major disease pathways.

Carmot Therapeutics, Inc. is spinning-off its technology platform to newly-formed Kimia Therapeutics. The Chemotype Evolution platform enables rapid synthesis and screening of target-focused chemical libraries, thereby providing relevant, information-rich datasets ideally suited for machine learning. Kimia Therapeutics is building a next generation drug discovery engine by combining Chemotype Evolution with state-of-the-art computational approaches to accelerate drug discovery for challenging targets implicated in cancer and immunological disorders.

Position Summary and Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced self-starter motivated to build protein expression/structural biology capabilities in support of drug discovery programs at Kimia. As part of your role, you will obtain high-resolution X-ray crystal structures of protein-ligand complexes to inform structure-based drug design efforts. Another part of your role will be to design, express and purify proteins or protein-ligand complexes to enable structural and biochemical studies. Depending on experience, you may also become involved in developing or implementing biochemical protein-based assays to evaluate drug candidates.
Experience and Skills
  • PhD with an emphasis in Structural Biology and 5+ years post-graduate experience, ideally including a biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry setting
  • Experience in all aspects of structure determination of a variety of proteins and protein-ligand complexes using X-ray crystallography; cryo-EM experience a plus
  • Experience with expression and purification of various soluble proteins; membrane protein experience a plus
  • Familiarity with characterization of protein function through biochemical and biophysical assays
  • Familiarity with molecular visualization or modeling software (MOE, PyMOL)
  • Documented ability to contribute and communicate impactful scientific findings through first-author peer-reviewed publications
  • Independent self-starter
  • Strong skills in verbal and written communication and ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team
$138,000 - $174,000 a year The anticipated salary range for this position is $138,000 to $174,000. The final salary will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job,typeand length of experience within the industry, education, etc. On top of base salary, we offer comprehensive benefits, bonus, and equity.
