Overview
As the Manager, EH&S, reporting to the Director, RC and EH&S, you will work to have a compliant program in place to protect personnel, property and the environment at SOFIE facilities while maintaining business continuity. The ideal candidate will have the ability to shape the EH&S function from the ground up. The EH&S Manager will develop, recommend, and implement programs, policies, and procedures associated with the recognition, measurement, evaluation, and control of potential health and safety hazards. The position will ensure that all applicable general safety training, chemical compliance, fire and life safety, and other EH&S-oriented items are compliant with SOFIE facilities. The position will also report to the management team the existence of an emergency at any SOFIE facility, investigating the cause of, and providing solutions to such emergency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Demonstrates in-depth knowledge, understanding and application of health and safety and workers' compensation laws and regulations for different regions and translates them into actionable processes, programs, and practices.
Steward processes to facilitate proactive reduction of risk using data and experience.
Drives the implementation of SOFIE's EH&S Program.
Designs, develops, and implements procedures, programs, processes, systems, and training that ensure H&S compliance, and enhance EH&S performance.
Demonstrates knowledge in hazard recognition, evaluation, and control.
Communicate at a detailed technical level when exploring and establishing new and innovative technologies to be able to provide appropriate advice and counsel to ensure Health & Safety risks are considered and adequately controlled.
Develops tactical and strategic initiatives to eliminate hazards and reduce or eliminate the associated risks.
Excellent analytical, prioritization, multi-tasking, communication, strong leadership skills, and the ability to work independently with limited supervision required.
Ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) with site personnel, corporate QA, customers, and regulatory agencies required.
Ability to prepare and present written and verbal reports to upper management required.
Perform any other tasks/duties as assigned by the Director, RC & EH&S.
Domestic travel up to 40%.
Qualifications:
Bachelors in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or closely related degree required.
Master's and/or professional certification (CSP, ASP) preferred.
5+ years of professional safety experience preferred.
Demonstrated ability to effectively facilitate training.
Experience as technical expert in industrial (Manufacturing/Distribution) safety preferred.
Must be a self-starter with high integrity and a bias towards action.
Must be a strong collaborator, with a proven ability to gain alignment and agreement.
Strong background demonstrating the ability to create and maintain a positive, successful culture.
Has the patience and skill to bring others along to higher levels of expertise.
Ability to manage safety challenges and opportunities across multiple sites and geographic locations.
Proficient in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
