ERM is seeking a hands-on Principal Water Resources Engineer, Technical Lead and Project Manager in our Atlantic Central Region (PA, NY, MD, Washington DC, CT) to support and grow ERM's water resources, climate change and modeling service area. Additional locations may be considered for the ideal candidate.

In this role, you will focus on leading technical projects and managing a team of water resources professionals supporting a number of surface water projects for energy clients domestically and globally. RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Serve as Technical Lead and Project Manager conducting and overseeing a variety of water resources related projects including marine and freshwater environment to support climate resilient infrastructures, flood risk and contaminant sediment management.
  • Direct and monitor project management activities. Specific tasks include:
    • directing/supervising teams,
    • task delegation and direction,
    • monitoring of budgets/commercial performance,
    • maintaining budgets,
    • and interacting with clients.
  • Contribute to business development activities supporting existing clients and fostering new opportunities.
  • Perform project delivery activities such as hydrodynamic, waves and storm surge analysis, computer modeling, report writing, undertaking and organizing data collection and field work, and development of recommendations for clients.
  • Prepare technical proposals and participate in business development with existing clients and identified leads. Maintain client relationships that generate repeat business.
  • Collaborate with other ERM water resource professionals and IA practitioners from multiple offices around the organization to execute impact assessment projects.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level consulting staff to develop their skill sets in the impact assessment service area.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Baccalaureate and/or master's degree in engineering, hydrology, or similar field.
  • 10+ years of water resources consulting experience.
  • Experience with a variety of surface water models (i.e., HEC-RAS, FLO-2D, EFDC, ROMS, POM, others).
  • Experience leading technical delivery of water resources projects and mentoring staff.
  • Experience with GIS and/or AutoCAD.
  • Experience with the energy industry preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to build, coach, and mentor collaborative teams.
  • High degree of technical competence and broad knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic assessment best practices.
  • Ability to be collaborative and work in a team.
  • Solid experience building sustaining relationships with clients.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience writing comprehensive technical reports and standards. Strong presentation skills for client meetings and other events.
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed.

The typical hiring range for this role is [$116,376 - $148,550]. This is the typical hiring range we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee's pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. This job is also eligible for bonus pay.
