At Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK), we're not only changing the way we treat cancer, but also the way the world thinks about it. By working together and pushing forward with innovation and discovery, we're driving excellence and improving outcomes. We're treating cancer, one patient at a time. Join us and make a difference every day.

In compliance with applicable State regulatory authorities, COVID-19 vaccination is mandatory for all MSK staff. Staff are considered fully vaccinated upon completion of a primary vaccination series for COVID-19 (i.e., one dose of a single dose vaccine or a final dose of a multi-dose vaccine series). Exceptions from the COVID-19 vaccine requirement are permitted for those who request and receive an approved medical or fully remote exemption. Requests for medical exemption can take up to two weeks to review. Vaccination or an approved medical exemption is required to start work.

*Staff working at a MSK New Jersey location must be up to date with COVID-19 vaccination, which includes having completed the primary COVID-19 vaccination series and booster once eligible as mandated by New Jersey State. All New Jersey staff not yet eligible for a booster must receive a booster within 3 weeks of becoming eligible as a condition of continued employment at MSK.

Note: Individuals are eligible to receive a COVID-19 booster two months after completion of a primary vaccination series for COVID-19. Because vaccine-induced immunity can wane over time, MSK continues to strongly urge all staff to get a COVID-19 booster as soon as they become eligible to maintain their protective immunity for a longer period.
Job Description
Are you interested in being part of a groundbreaking team? If you are hardworking and curious, this is your perfect role! You will be working with both the Levine lab at Human Oncology & Pathogenesis Program (HOPP) and bioinformatic team at the Center for Epigenetics Research and will be responsible for in depth integrative analysis of single cell multi-omic data types with a focus on advancing a systems level understanding of cancer genetics and epigenetics.

The Levine lab's mission is to improve our understanding of the genetic basis of blood disorders known as myeloid malignancies and to use this knowledge to improve therapies for patients with these disorders. We are focused on the identification and characterization of somatic mutations in hematologic malignancies using candidate gene, genome-wide, and functional approaches, with a specific interest in the role of aberrant signal transduction in malignant transformation and in the effects of mutations in epigenetic modifiers in myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Recently, the Levine lab has been a pioneer in applying scDNA+protein seq technology to study hematologic malignancies, particularly AML. We are expanding this new technology to multiple areas of AML research.

The core mission of the computational division of The Center for Epigenetics Research is to leverage genomic and epigenomic data to provide novel insights into cancer epigenetics and to communicate these results to multidisciplinary teams of basic and translational scientists, clinicians, and group leaders. This is accomplished by integrating gene expression, chromatin structure, and sequence variation with clinical data and experimental animal models to understand, predict, and gain therapeutic insight into the epigenetic components of tumorigenesis.

You have:
  • Deep knowledge of the principles behind current genomic analysis methods
  • Research experience in computational biology, with an emphasis on next-generation sequencing data
  • Extensive experience with scientific computing (R or Matlab)
  • Proficient in scripting languages, such as Perl or Python
  • Familiar with UNIX/Linux environment (including bash or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of publicly available bioinformatics tools and software packages
  • Solid understanding of probability and statistics
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to present analyses to a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians and scientists

You need:
  • Ph. D. or equivalent in bioinformatics, computer science, or related field.
  • Ability to maintain detailed records of all analysis
  • Ability to communicate findings in a clear and concise manner
