POSITION SUMMARY:

Milliman, the world's largest privately-held actuarial consulting firm, is seeking a full-time Director, ESG to lead our Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) agenda, and to lead the firm in the execution of our NetZero 2040 commitment.

This role can be filled anywhere in the US.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Director ESG's key responsibilities will include:

Work with the Chief Sustainability & DEI Officer to prepare materials (e.g., quarterly) for the Milliman Board of Directors in service of refining Milliman's ESG goals
Support Milliman's cross-functional and cross-business ESG Committee to execute on Milliman's ESG strategy and to continue to advance our ESG performance
Manage the efforts of the Milliman's Giving Fund, working with partners and monitoring Milliman's giving.
Drive leadership and influence in key ESG partnerships, coalitions and corporate sustainability organizations in support of our ESG strategies.
In conjunction with the Chief Sustainability & DEI Officer, execute on Milliman's NetZero 2040 commitment. Engage entire firm on this journey.
Manage communications with internal Milliman departments on messaging, policy alignment, key global initiatives, and the path to NetZero 2040.
Manage the execution of Milliman's annual ESG Report, including writing, oversight of data collection and verification, alignment with relevant reporting frameworks, such as UNGC, and related internal and external communications
Lead Milliman's strategy and execution for Sustainability raters and rankers, including EcoVadis, CDP, and all other requested rankings and raters.
Provide ESG support to Milliman's offices and practices
Serve as secondary Key Client contact for client meetings and primary contact in responding to client requests for ESG information and collaboration
Serve as key member of Vendor Management Task Force - for vendor selection criteria, metrics, and assurance around SIS priorities
Stay current and advise the firm on developments in the ESG space, including regulatory requirements regarding ESG reporting in jurisdictions around the world
Serve as Milliman's subject matter expert and lead ambassador for Sustainability at conferences and industry association meetings
Manage volunteer Ambassadors throughout the firm

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Minimum of 8-10 years of work experience in social impact, sustainability, business metrics roles - preferably in a professional services environment.

Previous work experience in ESG in a corporate setting for a global company preferred, or with a sustainability or management consultancy supporting global clients
Bachelor's degree in sustainability, business, or other related field
Experience securing executive support for programs/initiatives and influencing and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders
Experience with clean energy, climate change, and corporate sustainability
Deep knowledge of ESG frameworks, regulations, and best practices
Strong oral and written communication skills; skilled public speaker
Proven track record as a consensus builder with strong influencing and collaboration skills, working with leaders across businesses, functions, and geographies
Strong critical thinking and process improvement skills
Ability to successfully manage and mentor junior staff - including volunteer ESG Ambassadors
Ability to travel as required, including internationally

COMPENSATION:

The salary range is $150,000 to $220,000 annually, depending on relevant factors, including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, location, etc. This opportunity is based out of the Milliman office in Seattle, WA but is open to remote candidates.
