Responsibilities:
The Microbiology Medical Technologist performs all technical procedures in accordance with all standards set by applicable regulatory agencies including CAP, JCAHO, CLIA, AABB and OSHA. Maintains knowledge of all procedures and protocols. Maintains proficiency in performance of technical procedures. Testing is provided for patients with varying degrees of clinical conditions and different acuity levels. Testing is provided for all age ranges from newborns to geriatric patients. Ability to work in a highly productive department serving a two hospital systemMake independent decisions quickly and accurately.Consistently performs multiple technical tasks and assignments independentlyAbility to assess specimen quality and the validity of test resultsReliable and Dependable Team Player
Requirements:
Associates Degree in life science or Medical Technology with strong clinical experience or clinical internship in an NCCLS credentialed. Bachelor's degree in biology, life science or Medical Technology preferred.Minimum of two years technical laboratory experience in a hospital Microbiology department is required. Experience in all aspects of Microbiology including Bacteriologyis required. Experience in Mycology, Parasitology, and AFB is preferred. Must possess analytical skills to utilize technical equipment to perform testing. SOFT LIS experience a plus.(MT or (M) ASCP Occasional physical demands include: Climbing (e.g., stairs or ladders) , Squat/kneel/crawl , Taste or Smell Continuous physical demands include: Keyboard use/repetitive motion , Talk or Hear Lifting Floor to Waist 50 lbs. Lifting Waist Level and Above 50 lbs.
