Position Summary:
Catalent Pharma Solutions is Morrisville, NC is hiring a Senior Environmental Health and Safety Specialist for our Morrisville site. This person will be responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, as well as all Corporate requirements. Additionally, the Senior EHS Specialist acts as an emergency coordinator with authority to activate contingency plans and emergency procedures should an emergency occur.
This is a full-time position: Monday - Friday, days.

The Role
- Develop and manage EHS programs, as part of the EHS management system, including, but not limited to, risk assessments, job safety assessments, industrial hygiene, hazard communication, waste management, potent compound processes, and product specific handling requirements to ensure employee health and safety, as well as regulatory compliance
- Conduct ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 internal audits to ensure fulfillment of ISO standards and identify deviations from ISO standards
- Coordinate and conduct industrial hygiene assessment processes, including screening and monitoring, to determine employee personal exposure prior to, and following, control measures aimed at eliminating or minimizing employee exposure to hazardous substances
- Play an integral role in EHS employee consultation and participation programs, including, but not limited to, the Safety, Sustainability, and Wellness Ambassador Teams, and EHS Steering Committee
- Conduct EHS audits, inspections, hazard assessments, and investigations of violations as required and make recommendations as necessar
- Responsible for waste management programs across all waste streams (hazardous, non-hazardous, biohazardous, pharmaceutical, radioactive) including, but not limited to, waste minimization, reporting, inspections, shipping, training, and regulatory inspections
- Develop and conduct training of employees at all levels within the organization, including new hires, on the EHS management system
- Manage regulatory compliance reporting including, but not limited to, EPCRA - Tier I / II, TRI, SPCC, emergency and hazardous chemical inventory reporting, and OSHA 300, 300A and 301 form
- Will manage the Radiation Safety Program and serve as the site Radiation Safety Officer (RSO)
- Provide EHS expertise for new projects, processes, and construction activities at the site
- Manage EHS equipment and supplies including, but not limited to, spill containment kits, portable fire extinguishers, first-aid kits, AEDs, emergency shower / eyewash, and equipment calibratio
- Coordinate employee health and safety benefit programs including but not limited to, safety shoes, prescription safety glasses, lab coats, and other personal protective equipment
- Conduct incident and accident investigations ensuring corrective actions are appropriate, and efforts are taken to prevent reoccurrence
- All other duties as assigned;
The Candidate
- Bachelors degree in Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, or something related
- 3-5 years of experience in EHS or related field
- Experience in FDA and/or DEA regulated manufacturing, R&D, and analytical environments
- Experience in controlled substances and radiation is preferred
- Working knowledge of lab safety
- Must be a self-motivated leader capable of proactively assessing situations and implementing continuous improvement projects
- Ability to manage multiple shifting priorities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Individual may be required to sit, stand, walk regularly and occasionally lift 0-15 pounds;
