Overview:
The Environmental Health Safety Manager is responsible for creating, monitoring, and enforcing the safety systems and programs at Sonny's facilities and in the field. Will work directly with Director of EHS and site staff including Facilities Managers, Plant Managers, General Managers, and/or Directors of Operations to establish safe systems in the workplace and make sure that there are procedures in place to protect employees from workplace hazards and other dangerous situations. Will assist in organizing the onsite Safety Committee and work directly with the Director of EHS in the administration of our Safety Programs and associated documentation. Works under minimal supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
Responsibilities:
Performs inspections of company facilities and recommends corrections/ remediation or additional precautions to ensure compliance to established regulations. Research developments in safety technology and recommend new equipment or methods to the Director of EHSCreates and maintains PPE Policies based on hazard assessments by job function and/or work areaConducts regular safety inspections of the facilities and holds monthly Safety Committee meetings.Provides support to brainstorm ways to address problems and correct all deficienciesCAR/PARAction plans associated with injuries and near missesPrimary point of contact with Workers' Comp Loss Control representative for scheduling walkthroughs, air and noise sampling, and other tests as required. Responsible for addressing issues raised during these eventsTrains employees on safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Facilitates monthly employee safety trainingsConducts weekly toolbox talks, trains supervisors, and leads in the delivery of weekly toolbox talks, and audits toolbox talks after handoffConducts New Hire Safety Orientations on employees first day. Outlines and implements training programs about employee safety procedures and accident protection and prevention.Updates trainings regularly with pertinent material based on actual safety incidents and recordable injuriesEnsures compliance with all applicable federal and state health and safety regulations and ensures necessary records are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines.Participates in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections, providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures.Ensures compliance to all environmental programs in place, including but not limited to Spill Prevention, Containment and Countermeasures (SPCC), Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), Asbestos O&M Programs, HazCom plans, etc.Maintains SDS and ensures compliance training is completed.Promotes and participates in companywide Environmental and Social Governance (ESG) programsAfter 1 year of training, it is expected that the Facility Safety Manager is to travel to all local Sonny's facilities
Qualifications:
5+ years Safety Management experience - REQUIREDGeneral Industry experience with strong focus in warehouse and manufacturing - PREFERREDExperience in developing and executing employee safety training - REQUIREDIn-depth knowledge of OSHA and EPA guidelines - REQUIREDProficient in Incident Investigation and Root Cause analysis or similar process. - REQUIREDProficiency with MS Office: Mid-level MS Office skills required; will be utilizing MS Excel oftenBachelor's degree - PreferredSonny's Enterprises is the world's largest manufacturer of conveyorized car wash equipment, parts, and supplies.
