Job Details

Job Duties and Requirements
  • Coordinates the activity in the field of health, safety, ergonomics, and environment (HSE)
  • Work with the Corporate Services Director to update and maintain Injury Prevention Program (IPP) records and requirements
  • Create and implement safety plans while ensuring that they are being followed daily
  • Review, modify, and update workplace safety policies and procedures
  • Advises line management and assists, as an expert in the field, in the implementation of the legislation, rules and standards of the new or existing HSE company.
  • Conduct safety observation reports on a regular basis, depending on the length of the project
  • Coordinate and attend safety walks and inspections before or during each project to analyze safety risks
  • Educate employees on safety standards and expectations as well as safe machinery operation
  • Provide recommendations for improving safety in the workplace
  • Investigate accidents that occur onsite and identify possible causes of the accident
  • Maintain documentation of the company's safety procedures, accidents and related events
  • Act as a liaison between management and external safety agencies, such as fire and insurance personnel
  • Any other duties as requested by the supervisor

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or 3+ years in health and safety or a related field is preferred
  • Registration as a Certified Safety Professional or similar form of licensure as a safety officer is preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs and auditor safety software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation
  • Understanding of federal, state, and city safety requirements, including OSHA - CA, WA, AZ
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time while meeting deadlines
  • Interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective professional relationships with employees and project managers

Beneficial Qualifications/Skills
  • Understanding of how to read blueprints and other construction plans
  • Leadership skills, such as the ability to motivate a team and provide feedback
  • Independent work style
  • Project management certification or historical experience
  • Knowledge of sustainability, occupational safety, environmental safety, agriculture safety standards, and OSHA
