We address climate change by permanently and cost-effectively reducing cement usage and storing CO2 in concrete. Our innovative , award winning technology is focused on making the leap from two successful pilot demonstrations to our first commercial plant. Our employees will have the opportunity to make a global and long-lasting impact on the defining challenge of our time - climate change. As we prepare for our commercial introduction, we are seeking a concrete scientist to join our rapidly growing team.
You will work directly with the engineering team to design innovative low-carbon concrete formulations that will cure with gaseous CO2 via mineralization. You will conduct research including hands-on lab testing, data analysis, literature review, and field testing/demonstration.

You will work directly with the engineering team to design innovative low-carbon concrete formulations that will cure with gaseous CO2 via mineralization. You will conduct research including hands-on lab testing, data analysis, literature review, and field testing/demonstration.
Qualifications:
- M.S. in Civil Engineering, Materials Science/Engineering, Geochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or other comparable fields plus one or more years of relevant experience in research and development on cement/concrete, or Ph.D. in a related field
- Knowledge of cement chemistry, hydration reaction, and carbonation reactions
- Knowledge of design and development of alternative cementitious materials
- Ability to extend principles of reactivity mechanisms from cement to alternative binder
- Ability to select and perform analytical techniques for characterization of alternative binder systems to develop composition-reactivity-property relationships
- Familiarity with statistical methods including design of experiments and machine learning methods
Responsibilities:
- Develop a screening methodology and qualification criteria to assess the suitability of binder systems
- Exploit hydration/carbonation reactions of cementitious materials to develop sustainable binder systems
- Develop mechanochemical routes to activate hydration/carbonation reactions of binders for concrete applications
- Conduct laboratory functions, including hands-on testing, materials characterization, concrete testing
- Travel to project sites to demonstrate the technology at a pilot scale (for up to 2 months per year; e.g., 4-8 1-week trips)
- Maintain & calibrate testing equipment
- Other duties as assigned by the Head of Engineering
