Primary Purpose of Position:

The Environmental, Health and Safety Manager will communicate safety/health information to team members. This position will reduce risk of injury and adverse events, by identifying, evaluating and controlling risks associated with processes, tasks and the work environment. The incumbent will drive safety, health and wellness improvements and awareness for activities - Evaluating/Directing the industrial hygiene program etc., managing plant environmental systems and developing methods to ensure continual plant compliance. He/She will direct local management on environmental, health and safety (EHS) compliance responsibilities (including law, regulations and corporate standards). This role will manage the plant's training system and provide assistance to the plant's EHS committee/associates to further integrate EHS activities into operations/services. The associate will work with hourly labor Trainers to ensure all annual trainings/certifications are completed.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Direct, authorize and monitor safety/health programs to ensure all plant associates are trained and are aware of safety expectations at the plant.
  • Support line management in incorporating best practices to eliminate or control hazards
  • Review existing EHS policies (against current regulations/corporate standards) and develop revised local policies, methods, training and documentation.
  • Work with the Workers Compensation and Regional EHS teams to proactively support protection of human health and the environment - Ensuring associates are receiving proper care (within compliance guidelines).
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental laws and complete reporting (as required) with government agencies, state/local agencies and Goodyear corporate.


Education:
  • Bachelors degree


Experience:
  • 3 or more years of experience in a manufacturing industry (working as a safety engineer, safety manager, industrial hygienist, etc.)
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental laws and complete reporting (as required) with government agencies, state/local agencies and Goodyear corporate. Previous experience in industrial environment


Skills:
  • Strong working knowledge of federal, state and local safety and environmental laws/regulations (related to manufacturing operations)
  • Understand business systems, problem identification and continuous improvement exposure
  • Experience with Microsoft and other computer systems
  • Excellent communication skills (written/verbal)
  • Good negotiation skills to work with all aspects of the medical field, government agencies and team members
