Third Way's Development & External Affairs team is lookingfor a highly organized and collaborative individual with a trackrecord for setting the strategic vision, growing, and managing anestablished, successful institutional and individual philanthropicdevelopment program for climate and clean energy issues. Thisincludes setting a multi-year plan for Climate & Energy Programdevelopment, stewarding more than three dozen existing andprospective donors, identifying and recruiting new potentialindividual donors, and expanding development communications andevents. This position oversees our development advisor and workswith a team that includes a grant accounts manager, Senior VicePresident for Climate, and Climate policy and communicationsteams.

Reports to the Vice President of Development & ExternalAffairs.

As the Deputy Director of Development, a typical day mightinclude....
  • Setting and overseeing the execution of the developmentstrategy for the Climate & Energy Program to maintain and growour individual donors and foundation fundraising, working with theSenior Vice President for Climate, Third Way's Development and theClimate policy and Communications teams;
  • Cultivating and stewarding relationships with individual andphilanthropic donors to the Climate & Energy Program, inconjunction with the Development Advisor and Senior Vice Presidentfor Climate;
  • Identifying and building relationships with new donorprospects;
  • Acting as Third Way's liaison to leaders in climate and energyphilanthropy;
  • Analyzing trends in individual and institutional climatephilanthropy and identifying opportunities for Third Way's Climate& Energy Program to position itself as a thought leader in thisspace;
  • In coordination with the Climate Program Communications team,overseeing the development and implementation of donor-specificcommunications, products and events;
  • Overseeing the Development Advisor who managesinstitutional philanthropic giving and grant accounts manager'sfulfillment of all relevant grants.
