Job Description
Position Summary

The Environmental/Safety Assistant will have an important role in maintaining Environmental/Safety compliance throughout Miller Castings. The opportunity will allow the individual to gain knowledge and skills in the environmental/safety field.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Help maintain and manage the EHS programs, policies and procedures that comply with federal, state and local rules and regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with different departments to ensure the workplace safety
  • Constantly walk through the production floor to ensure that safety protocols are followed by employees
  • Facilitate Environmental/Safety manager to hold safety meetings on a monthly basis
  • Proactively identify opportunities for improvement in all areas of safety
  • Conduct inspections of equipment and facilities to ensure environmental and safety compliance requirements.
  • Address safety or environmental concerns with Environmental/Safety Manager immediately.
  • Develop a strong relationship with employees and facilitate employee-led behavior-based safety process in a team-based environment
  • Perform other duties assigned.
  • Maintain records and databases in compliance with environmental/safety compliance requirements.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Environmental/Safety experience or a related field preferred
  • Microsoft Office Skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills along with computer skills. (MS Word and Excel)
  • Excellent organization and time management skills, flexibility, and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Must be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred

The role of the Environmental/Safety assistant will require that the individual is able-bodied to perform various physical task which include walking, climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting object up to 35 lbs.
