If you've ever wondered what owning your own business is like, just ask an Employee Owner of Chatsworth Products (CPI). Better yet, become one! CPI has an immediate need for an Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator in our Simi Valley, California location.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator partners with the site team to coordinate safety and environmental programs that promote and ensure a safe working environment. This individual assures compliance with federal, state and local regulations including CAL-OSHA. Recommends policies and procedures in the development and administration of safety and health programs. Conducts safety meetings, inspections and training programs. Investigates adequacy of equipment, exhaust system, lighting and conditions that may affect employee safety and health. Prepares all required reports and recommends corrective actions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Provides support on environmental health and safety compliance to site personnel under the guidance of the EHS Manager.
* Serves as site contact for insurance, regulatory, and consultant visits when EHS Manager is not present or as needed.
* Assists in the implementation and maintenance of the environmental, health and safety management systems and recordkeeping processes.
* Maintains confidentiality.
* Maintains skills and knowledge required to perform job duties. Stays up to date on state and federal environmental health & safety regulations.
* Is knowledgeable of ISO 14001 requirements and champions the certification process.
* Consults with site managers regarding the implementation of new safety procedures.
* Mentors/coaches hourly employees at the facility in safe procedures and requirements. Periodically inspects the facility to identify existing or potential safety and health hazards to determine corrective measures and ensure measures are implemented.
* Coordinates and facilitates Safety Committee meetings and projects.
* Executes safety training including working with the Training Department in New Employee Safety Orientation and developing training materials for these presentations.
* Inspects or evaluates workplace environments, equipment, or practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations.
* Leads the investigation of accidents to identify causes or to determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future.
* Inspects specified areas to ensure the presence of fire prevention equipment, safety equipment, or first-aid supplies.
* Analyzes incident data to identify trends in injuries, illnesses, accidents, or other hazards.
* Develops or maintains hygiene programs, such as noise surveys, continuous atmosphere monitoring or ventilation surveys.
* Maintains or updates emergency response plans or procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Technical Competencies:

* Associate or bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management.
* Qualifying experience may be evaluated in lieu of a degree for experience in the health, safety environmental field in a manufacturing environment.
* Computer proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
