Commonwealth Engineers is seeking an entry-level Environmental Scientist to join our award-winning engineering design and consulting firm at our Indianapolis Headquarters. The candidate must be a self-starter and willing to grow with our company.

Applicant must be adaptable, and willing to work in a performance and deadline-driven environment and in a team setting. Training will be made available for specific duties.

Responsibilities

* Prepare permit applications
* Prepare environmental reports as required by funding agencies
* Evaluate sites for potential wetland/stream mitigation
* Prepare water quality plans as required by drinking water and/or wastewater regulatory programs
* Execute/track target marketing activities
* Prepare technical reports, memorandums, and graphics
* Perform environmental resources planning including historic/architectural resources, wetlands, surface waters, groundwater, floodway, and floodplain, plants and animals, soils, farmland impacts
* Effectively communicate environmental findings and permitting needs to engineering staff
* Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

* Masters in Environmental Science or Public Affairs or 2+ years experience in a water resource-related field
* Experience working with Local, State, and/or Federal Environmental/Regulatory Agencies is a plus
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
* Assertive interpersonal communication skills
* Ability to work independently and in team environments
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Ability to prioritize
