Company Overview :

One of Gordian's NewCo's, Tesseract Medicines, is developing an entirely new approach to targeted drug delivery. Leveraging specific oncogenic drivers found only on the inside of cancer cells, Tesseract is engineering small-molecule drug conjugates (SMDCs) that selectively deliver cytotoxic payloads to malignant cells. Applied towards areas of high unmet medical need, Tesseract seeks to greatly expand the scope and impact of targeted therapies for cancer treatment

Position Summary :
Tesseract Medicines is seeking an Associate Director/Director of Biology to lead multiple ongoing small-molecule drug conjugate discovery programs in the oncology space. This individual will be responsible for the hands-on management of all biology CRO-related activities including the optimization and implementation of all project related assays. Additionally, the role requires close collaboration with counterparts in chemistry and other disciplines to develop the strategy and biological tools necessary to set and deliver on key milestones towards candidate selection through to clinical development.

* Provide scientific leadership on all programs to enable progression from early-stage technology validation through to development candidate selection.
* Hands-on management of all outsourced biology and biochemistry resources, and oversee activities at all partner CROs including the design, optimization, and implementation of all project-relevant biological assays.
* Collaborate with colleagues and consultants across disciplines including chemistry, pharmacology, DMPK, and translational sciences to answer key questions about mechanism of action and translation of anti-cancer drug candidates.
* Evaluate, interpret, and document scientific results and effectively communicate/present data to key stakeholders (e.g., leadership team and investors).
* Support internal evaluation of novel biology to nominate therapeutic targets to the portfolio.
* Analysis of public databases to generate and test hypotheses for patient selection.

Qualifications and skills:

* PhD. in molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or related field.
* > 8 years of industry experience or the equivalent expertise in oncology drug discovery, with experience in drug conjugates a plus.
* Experience working extensively with external CROs to accomplish drug discovery objectives.
* Track-record of adopting innovative approaches to answer complex biological questions.
* Experience performing and analyzing a broad array of molecular and cell biology experiments.
