Overview of Position:

Ichor is seeking a research driven Microbial Biology Research Technician to support the research and development endeavors of our Protein Production Department. Primary Functions:

* Perform research activities as assigned according to established procedures and methods.
* Support research activities of coworkers by preparing buffers, medias, reagents, and ensuring materials and laboratory spaces are clean and orderly.
* Maintain and calibrate equipment, as necessary, according to established procedures.
* Document all research activities and maintenance tasks in an electronic laboratory notebook (ELN).

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

* Ability to follow standard operating procedures with attention to detail.
* Basic computer literacy and ability to operate electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) software.
* Experience culturing bacteria or yeast (preferred but not required
* Recombinant protein expression optimization (preferred but not required)
* Knowledge of molecular biology techniques such as flow cytometry, RT-qPCR, Western Blotting, and ELISAs. (Preferred but not required)
* Basic computer literacy and ability to operate electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) software.

Education and Other Requirements:

* High-school diploma
* BS degree in biotechnology, biochemistry, or related field preferred
* Experience in a laboratory research environment preferred.

Physical Activities:

* Occasionally requires ascending or descending stairs
* Remaining in a stationary position, occasionally sitting or standing for prolonged periods
* Occasional travel to off-site location
* Adjusting or moving objects up to 40 pounds
* Constantly communicating with others to exchange information
* Constantly repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
* Occasionally operating machinery and/or power tools
* Constantly assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned

Environmental Conditions:

* Occasionally hazardous conditions, working with fixatives

Physical Demands:

* Medium work that includes moving objects up to 50 pounds.
