NMR is seeking candidates for a Research Associate II or Engineering Analyst II position. We are a small but expanding consulting firm specializing in the evaluation of energy efficiency and renewable energy programs.

We are looking for colleagues who think critically and creatively, take initiative, and are not afraid to ask questions. The ideal candidate will contribute to our culture of teamwork and employee ownership by sharing knowledge freely, offering their unique perspective, and demonstrating a willingness to give and receive constructive criticism.

The anticipated salary for this position is in the $60,000s, depending on qualifications and experience. We also offer a strong array of benefits, including an Employee Stock Ownership Plan, health, dental, disability, 401K, T passes for those who commute to our Davis Square, Somerville, MA office via public transportation, paid parental leave, and three weeks of paid vacation starting (up to six weeks after multiple years of employment).

We seek to hire individuals possessing the knowledge, skills, and abilities typically gained through Master's level education or prior work in environmental science and policy, social science, or engineering programs. We prefer candidates with experience addressing energy-related subjects; experience in program evaluation is a bonus. Successful employees will have opportunities for advancement in this growing company and field.

The job responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:

* Designing questionnaires and conducting surveys and interviews with program participants, contractors, and others
* Analyzing qualitative and quantitative data using R, SPSS, or similar data analysis packages
* Conducting onsite audits of the energy performance of homes and businesses
* Developing energy analyses and energy models
* Writing clear research summaries, memoranda, and reports

This position will require individuals to perform onsite energy audits of residential and commercial buildings, which can be physically and mentally taxing at times. These audits may require employees to travel up to 25% of the time for several consecutive months, sometimes requiring out-of-state trips. NMR will pay for training to become a certified HERS Rater. Employee and customer safety are always our top priority; employees are empowered to determine when a situation is not safe to conduct audits.

We offer a flexible working arrangement. This position is expected to work at least several days each week in our Somerville office with the remaining days working from home. The ideal candidate will already live in the Boston area, but we can supplement moving expenses if needed.

As part of our commitment to becoming an anti-racist organization, we wish to emphasize our dedication to creating a diverse workforce. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds no matter their race, creed, gender, sexual orientation, neurodiversity, or socioeconomic status.

NMR's core values are environmental stewardship, producing the highest quality work possible, and concern and care for colleagues' professional and personal welfare and equity. We take climate change seriously by minimizing our greenhouse gas emissions and purchasing carbon offsets. Our in-office employees walk, bike, and/or take public transportation to work. We do not offer parking at the office.

Submit your resume and cover letter through this website. Please, do not call NMR directly. Due to the high number of applications expected, we will not be able to respond to each submission.
