We are CURRENTLY seeking a phenomenal Environmental Health and Safety Manager to join our growing team!

What does a typical day look like? I'm glad you asked!

In this Department Managerial role, no two days will be quite the same! The EHS Manager is a subject matter expert in the areas of TCEQ, EPA, OSHA and more. As one of the very first ISO 45001 certification recipients in our area, we place a strong emphasis on the Safety and Environmental aspects of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
The Environmental Health and Safety Manager is responsible for the execution of the department vision through planning, implementing, controlling, monitoring and evaluating the Environmental Health and Safety operations of the business unit inclusive of human, financial and material resources.

Achieves department objectives by contributing Environmental Health and Safety information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing EHS standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; implementing change in the areas of: as per TCEQ, EPA, OSHA, DOT, Worker's Compensation; international standards ISO 14001, ISO 45001.

To plan and document the organization's overall EHS vision and objectives in a policy statement, identify and register environmental aspects and impacts and occupational health and safety risks as well as regulatory requirements; to define EHS objectives and targets, implement suitable strategic initiatives to deliver results in accordance with the organization's EHS policy and legal requirements; to check, monitor and measure the results against policy, objectives, targets and legal and other requirements; and act, to take action to continually improve the performance of the EHS management system with an overall goal of prevention of incidents or accidents that might result from abnormal operating conditions on the one hand and reduction of adverse effects that result from normal operating conditions.

Manufacturing Operations & Continued Expectations:
Plan, implement, create, evaluate, coordinate, and oversee the implementation of site specific EHS policies, programs, and practices. Develop and implement safety and industrial hygiene programs in compliance with regulation and company policy.
Develops and implements training for compliance for health and safety programs including, but not limited to, hazard communications, safe working practices, and PPE.
Approves all PPE and chemical purchases to ensure compliance with regulation.
Reviews new equipment, materials, and processes to assure employee safety.
Compiles and submits required OSHA and company documentation.
Performs hazard assessments for manufacturing activities including, but not limited to, the need for personal protective equipment (PPE) and process safety management (PSM).
Conducts gap analysis to determine EHS priorities. Develops, implements, and provides EHS training as needed.
Investigates accidents and makes recommendations for safety and operating improvements.
Recommends improvements in policies, procedures, and equipment to prevent accidents and injuries.
Administers, implements, and provides oversight for the PSM program.
Plans and coordinates industrial hygiene testing (air sampling, noise level testing, etc.) to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.
Evaluates workstations, including ergonomic issues, to enhance or improve working conditions.
Manages environmental programs and permits for solid waste, air and water requirements as directed.
Audit company facilities and aids developmental corrective actions and resolutions of identified issues in compliance with TCEQ, OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulations.
Provides recommendation and assistance for health and wellness programs including Worker's Compensation, Medical, and Drug and Alcohol Testing.
Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation, and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge, and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
Other duties as assigned.
Perform Department Management:
Plans and implements environmental programs and prepares / submits environmental reports in compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations including CAA, CWA, SPCC, TRI, RCRA and Tier II reporting.
Manage the overall operational, budgetary, and financial responsibilities and activities of the department.
Plan and implement systems that perform the work and fulfill the mission and the goals of the department efficiently and effectively.
Plan and allocate resources to effectively staff and accomplish the work to meet departmental productivity and quality goals.
Plan, evaluate, and improve the efficiency of business processes and procedures to enhance speed, quality, efficiency, and output.
Make business decisions that are financially responsible, accountable, justifiable, and defensible in accordance with organization policies and procedures.
Establish and maintain relevant controls and feedback systems to monitor the operation of the department.
Manage Safety Committee across all shifts.
Investigates incidents, including environmental, physical and property damage.
Manage the preparation and maintenance of reports necessary to carry out the functions of the department. Prepares periodic reports for management, as necessary or requested, to track strategic goal accomplishment.
Facilitates the Management of Change processes, including EHS review of construction and engineering projects.
Communicate regularly as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to stakeholders within the organization.
Acts as a member of the plant leadership team.
Coach and mentor staff as appropriate to improve performance.
What You Offer Us:
Education:
Bachelor's degree with emphasis in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Systems Management, or in a complimentary field such as science, or chemistry.
EHS related certifications (CHMM, REP, CSP, CIH) preferred.
Experience:
Minimum (5) years of professional EH&S experience in a medium to large automotive, manufacturing environment in an environmental health and safety management role.
ISO System Management.
Strong computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Desired Characteristics:

Detail oriented, accurate, and possess good organizational skills.

What type of previous experience is required to be successful in this role?

CGT is looking for a candidate with a diverse background in the Environmental, Health and Safety field. The ideal candidate will likely possess the following:
Formal education in an Environmental Engineering or relevant field.
Extremely versed in the Environmental side of the EHS field.
Results driven through engagement and collaboration.
Several Years work experience in an EHS role, preferably in a highly regulated manufacturing environment.
Previous experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 systems, preferably as an auditor or system creator.
Strong working knowledge of OSHA, TCEQ, and EPA regulations.
NSR and PBR Permitting regulations.
Most likely will have some type of EHS related certification (CSP, CHMM, REP, CIH, etc.).
Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate well.
