Position Summary:

The Senior Engineer, Manufacturing Process at Biomason will interpret initial R&D results to pilot scale process development. This position will report to the Sr. Manager, Manufacturing Process & Equipment Engineering at our Concrete Development and Production Center in Research Triangle Park, NC.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage, plan and execute design of experiments (DOEs) and other critical testing for process development on new processes; ensure quality of data analysis and result
  • Work with development chemists, biologists, engineers, and managers to develop robustness in existing processes which incorporate standard unit operations, meeting stringent quality requirements, and managing changes through cross-functional partnering
  • Assist with equipment specification for scalability and documentation
  • Work with R&D and Manufacturing teams to establish detailed design requirements prior to initiating engineering work, and reviews designs, layouts, and plans
  • Technical documentation supporting operational execution and tech transfer from lab, to pilot, to production
  • Develop and utilize existing chemical analytical methods and physical property testing, leveraging skills in a lab setting with specialized equipment


Education/ Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, (Master's degree preferred)
  • 5-7 years experience in pharmaceutical or Biotechnology fields


Knowledge, Skills,& Abilities:

  • Knowledge of and practical application of Quality Engineering principles and Quality tools and methods, including, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Control Plans, Problem Solving Methodologies like Root Cause Analysis (RCA) & 8D/CAPA, Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility Study (GR&R)
  • Ability to design and execute complex, multivariate experiments with the understanding of the critical parameters
  • Knowledge and application of Metrology Techniques including, mechanical measurements systems, measurement techniques and process capability studies
  • Ability to operate and understand results from analytical devices such as ion chromatography (IC) and High- performance liquid chromatography (HPLC)
  • Skilled in SPC (Statistical Process Control) and Process Capability using JMP or similar software
  • Ability to design appropriate inspection methods to ensure product manufacturability
  • Coatings and Composite process chemistry knowledge
  • SPC, SQC, ISO practices and principles, Process Safety Management, and SAP
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and straightforward manner
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of management and company personnel
  • Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records, files, reports, and correspondence
  • Must possess the abilities to multitask and work well under pressure
