Job Title: Environment, Health, and Safety Manager (EHS) - Direct Hire Job Function: Compliance SME Location: Glen Rock, PA Compensation: The base salary/hourly rate range represents the anticipated low and high end of the USDM's compensation range for this position. Actual salaries/hourly rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role.
Full-time employees are eligible for health, vision, and dental insurance, life insurance, short and long-term disability, hospital indemnity, accident, and critical care coverage.
Both full and part time employees, who are at least 21 years of age, are eligible to participate in USDM's 401k plan. Full and part time employees may be eligible for paid time off.

Nature and Scope of Job

USDM is looking for a strong Environment, Health & Safety Manager for one of our clients.

Primary Responsibilities

Manage and lead all aspects of Environmental, Health & Safety.

Directs and coordinates planning, development and implementation of EH&S policies, programs and practices in conjunction with all other company functional groups.

Plans, directs and controls activities of the EH&S function to accomplish corporate objectives.

Ensures that the health, safety, and environmental impact policies and practices are established and effectively implemented.

Analyzes potential worker safety risks; implements measures to mitigate them.

Regularly tours facilities to personally inspect operations and communicate with different departments and associates to assure EH&S risks are understood, and responsibly managed to minimize potential for incidents and injuries.

Manages and coordinates all internal, customer and regulatory agency audits assuring: Appropriate levels of information access, Accuracy of information communicated and shared, Clear, concise and appropriate audit response.

Responsible follow-up to all necessary follow-up actions.

Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations as pertains to the health, safety, and environmental impact of the organization's operations internally and externally (including shipping & DOT regulations).

Leads the Executive Safety & Regulatory Committee (ESRC).

Coordinates with functional leaders the formation, staffing and objectives of the Corporate Safety Committee and related subcommittees.

Ensures the development and effective implementation of worker safety training programs in collaboration with functional organizations.

Assures all government-mandated training requirements are fully satisfiedInvestigates and recommends courses of corrective and preventative actions for incidents and injuries.

Ensures that all new chemicals and/or processes are effectively assessed for hazard potential and adequate safeguards are implemented prior to use.

Participates in annual and long-range business planning.

Develop EH&S strategy elements & functional plans.

Regularly monitors key metrics and communicates status versus goals.

Identifies and implements continuous improvement actions as warranted.

Makes identifiable and substantial contributions to improvement of systems, processes and practices.

Recommends departmental plans/budgets and manages approved budgets accordingly.

Effectively communicates functional status across Company.

Assures functional information and records are well-organized affording efficient access and maintained consistent with established record retention policies.

Effectively manages EH&S associates including assuring up-to-date position descriptions, establishment and auditing of performance expectations, annual reviews, individual development plans, and training.

Conducts all aspects of position in a professional, respectful manner consistent with AR Guiding Principles.

Embraces 6S LEAN culture.

Organizes personal work areas and appearance consistent with corporate and divisional professional image.

Qualifications

5 years of on-the-job experience in implementing health and safety programs in related industry with demonstrated strong compliance and safe work history

OSHA certification preferred

Strong managerial, communication (oral & written), and analytical skills

Ability to work in both a team and independently

Ability to understand and develop systems to support EHS and Corporate initiatives

Strong leadership, influencing, interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills; ability to communicate within all levels of the organization, as well as with outside organizations and agencies

Capable of handling potentially high-stress emergency situations

Proficiency with standard desktop computer software applications

On call at all hours as circumstances require

Education & Certifications

Bachelor's degree in technical discipline

OSHA certification preferred.
