Summary

We are currently looking for an Environmental Engineer III to join the AGC Biologics team at the Boulder and Longmont, Colorado facilities. This position will work as part of a team to provide complete environmental services under the direction of the Environmental Health & Safety Manager. This position will ensure that company activities are conducted in accordance with company requirements and in compliance with local, state and federal environmental regulations and licenses. Will conduct all activities in a safe manner and align performance and daily functions to reflect company values.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure company compliance with the requirements of environmental permits, licenses, and regulations, focusing on monitoring, record-keeping and reporting requirements.
  • Develop and implement environmental policies and procedures.
  • Perform site compliance sampling and submission to lab for analysis.
  • Assess and monitor site compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental regulations. Work with plant personnel to ensure compliance.
  • Develop and conduct required environmental training.
  • Prepare applicable regulatory / company deliverable reports.
  • Facilitate environmental incident prevention and investigation processes and prepare reports to appropriate agencies.
  • Direct the facility's waste minimization program.
  • Conduct site regulatory compliance audits.
  • Manage the site's waste management programs (hazardous/non-hazardous), regulated medical waste, waste recycling and universal waste.
  • Monitor waste streams and waste products to ascertain ways to eliminate or minimize waste generation.
  • Monitor wastewater treatment system to ensure permit compliance and direct water conservation activities.
  • Interface with all levels of the organization and external agencies, vendors and contactors.
  • Participate in all environmental incident investigations.
  • Actively pursue projects or process improvements that can reduce environmental impacts, reduce costs, and increase efficiencies of environmental functions.
  • Actively participate in the company audit and self-assessment program, incident investigation and corrective action process and continuous improvement activities.
  • Oversee chemical inventory management for SDS management and SARA compliance and reporting.
  • Conduct SWPPP/SPCC & hazardous waste management inspections on a regular basis.
  • Participate/Lead Refrigerant Management Status and Refrigerant Management Working Group meetings.
  • Provide support to the Safety Committee(s).
  • Perform other functions as assigned by EHS Manager.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
  • Professional EHS certification or the desire to attain certification (CSP) is strongly preferred.
  • Experience leading or supporting environmental programs, including experience with environmental agencies and required reporting.
  • Experience with ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
  • Experience developing and facilitating emergency planning and employee training including ability to describe environmental regulatory requirements to a diverse workforce.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Able to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and management, regulators and governmental agencies.
  • Must demonstrate strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Computer proficiency in software applications required for analyzing, monitoring, reporting and presentations.
  • Able to prioritize and perform multiple tasks without losing momentum.
  • Able to work independently and in a team environment to cultivate employee commitment to a high-performance, safe work culture
  • Able to work on a flexible work schedule including an on-call basis
Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science or Engineering, or related field required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as an Environmental Engineer.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of refrigerant and waste management experience.
  • Working knowledge of Colorado permitting requirements preferred.
Compensation Range

$87,417 - $104,900 annually
