Reporting to the Vice President - Environmental Responsibility, the Senior Director, Climate and Environmental Programs, will be responsible for delivering and executing an Enterprise wide climate change and environmental programs strategy and approach for McKesson. The role, through the strategy and programs developed, will enhance business performance, energize employees, support the McKesson brand, and enable positive climate, environmental, and societal impact.

The Senior Director, Climate and Environmental Programs, will partner with Global Impact Office (GIO) colleagues and BU stakeholders to drive McKesson's carbon accounting, reporting, project development, and implementation. This role will manage McKesson's relationship with the external organizations such as the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) and Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) and represent McKesson in external working groups that are taking action on decarbonizing the US health sector. In this role, a successful candidate will be able to understand and navigate environmental data management, vet, implement, and manage new technology, and work cross functionally as they implement the strategies and programs they have collaboratively developed. They will work closely on McKesson's ESG disclosures and partner directly with the McKesson Environmental Data management team to help support their efforts to make data easily accessible and useable for McKesson and external stakeholder groups. They will identify, develop, and lead efforts in carbon accounting and implementing carbon reduction programs and projects as well as finding, vetting, and implementing new technologies as they relate to reducing McKesson's carbon footprint and enhancing our environment.

The Senior Director, Climate and Environmental Programs will lead the development of McKesson's climate change strategy, action planning, and/or working cross functionally to help us achieve our science-based targets. Finally, this role will be responsible for applying Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) thinking across McKesson's products to support efforts to reduce the environmental impact of our product portfolio across our value chain.

2. Job Responsibilities -
  • Manage cross-functional project implementation
  • Parse through the various business opportunities to identify the most pressing and strategic engagements
  • Proactively engage stakeholders to partner on project development, tracking, and implementation
  • Understands where McKesson's most impactful opportunities are based on a value, continuity, and a resilience view point
  • Is able to drive connectivity of topics and issues across business units so that we are able to lift and shift ideas from one business unit to another
  • Help McKesson shape and refine our strategic approach to climate change and environmental programs
  • Navigate complex business/customer relationships as we drive our efforts into our value chain both up and downstream
  • Look around corners, finding opportunities before they present themselves so we are proactively taking action and starting initiatives before they become top of mind for our senior leaders
  • Interact with senior leaders, taking their input, strategic vision and direction and turning it into action and impact

3. REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant fields.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in large organizations.
  • Proven success in developing sustainability and ESG strategies. Deep understanding of ESG frameworks.
  • Highly analytical orientation, synthesizing information and offering recommendations/solutions with strong financial acumen.
  • Strategic thinker who can put plans into action to achieve mutually agreed upon goals in a fast-paced, growing environment.
  • Experience driving change management with a proven ability to influence and drive initiatives across functions, levels, and regions.
  • Ability to prioritize ongoing and new projects, as well as to conduct research, gather information, solve problems and make decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal, organization and management skills are required. Someone who builds trust, inspires people, and fosters financials responsibility.
  • Experience participating in and leading cross-functional projects. Ability to develop strong partnerships with both internal and external partners.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and data management skills. Experience creating collateral and communications for varying types of stakeholders.
  • Comfort leading a new role amidst ambiguity and transformational change. Experience navigating a matrixed organization. Strong senior level influencing and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to pivot from big-picture strategy development to detailed, hands-on work.
  • Healthcare industry experience an asset

As part of Total Rewards, we are proud to offer a competitive compensation package at McKesson. This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.
Our Base Pay Range for this position$153,200 - $255,300
