The Eugene Water & Electric Board (EWEB) is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Water Laboratory Technician to work at EWEB's Hayden Bridge Water Filtration Plant and in the field. The Water Laboratory Technician at EWEB is responsible for tasks assigned in the areas of water sampling, microbiological and basic wet chemical analysis, compliance monitoring, Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC), as well as responding to customer water quality inquiries. This position helps monitor EWEB's water distribution system to make sure we consistently deliver high quality water to our customers. The successful candidate will work both in an ORELAP accredited laboratory and do field collections. By collecting samples in the field and processing them in the lab, this position will get to see a complete cycle of sample collection all the way through to the results. They will also interact with customers around water quality questions. The Water Laboratory Technician at EWEB will also: * Assists with ensuring that the Laboratory maintains NELAC/ORELAP accreditation. * Maintains daily QA/QC procedures in the lab. Follows all laboratory procedures including the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) manual, and the Quality Assurance manual and systems. * Collects water samples from the distribution system and conducts reliable, timely, and efficient water quality monitoring activities. * Performs microbiological and basic wet chemical analysis and enters pertinent information into the LIMS system. * Performs according to SOPs and safe work practices in the laboratory. * Responds to customer inquiries about water quality and resolves issues and questions to their understanding and satisfaction. * Assists with compiling laboratory supply inventory. * Calibrates laboratory and field equipment to ensure proper functionality. * Works collaboratively with supervisors and water quality staff to maintain the effectiveness of overall water utility operations. The successful candidate will have both education and experience working in a drinking water lab. They will also have excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills, be an independent worker with good time management skills, will pay close attention to detail, and have excellent technology skills in a variety of systems to include word processing, spreadsheets, data base management, LIMS system, and online communication tools such as Microsoft Teams, Outlook and Sharepoint. Pay for the Water Laboratory Technician starts at $31.0512 and will advance up to $36.5308 as training steps are met. Minimum Training and Experience Required: Minimum Experience: Two years of progressively responsible experience in a drinking water laboratory or equivalent preferred. Education: Associates Degree in Laboratory Science, Environmental Science, Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry or other related field. Desirable education, experience, training and certifications: A Bachelor's Degree in Laboratory Science, Environmental Science, Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry or other related field. Equivalency: An equivalent combination of experience and education may be qualifying.
