Job Description
An innovative biotechnology company with an innovative platform to enable single-cell profiling and target discovery with epitope-level resolution is looking for an enthusiastic and creative Senior Research Associate with a background in molecular biology and biochemistry to support discovery and platform technology teams.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in molecular biology techniques, such as molecular cloning, primer and construct design, DNA sequence analysis, electrophoresis, bacterial and plasmid work, and mammalian cell culture. The successful candidate, working alongside a scientist, will play an instrumental role in advancing the company's drug discovery and platform programs and will gain exposure to various techniques, including library cloning, genetic selections, and surface display.
This individual will be passionate about working in a collaborative, interdisciplinary, and fast-growing startup environment. Primary Responsibilities
- Independently collect, manage, and analyze data from molecular biology experiments, including molecular cloning, primer and construct design, DNA sequence analysis, electrophoresis, bacterial and plasmid work as well as mammalian cell culture
- Plan and execute assay development activities, including designing, conducting, and troubleshooting experiments
- Cell line maintenance and tissue culture facility day-to-day operations
- Maintain an accurate and detailed record of experimental work and outcomes in electronic laboratory notebooks
- Maintain data integrity and effectively communicate findings to the team
- Contribute to the presentation of findings (slide decks, white papers, publications)
Qualifications
- B.A./B.S./M.S. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Cell Biology, or a related scientific discipline with 2+ years of full-time wet lab experience
- Strong technical proficiency in the design and execution of cloning projects, including primer and construct design, DNA sequence analysis, gel electrophoresis, qPCR, bacterial and plasmid work
- Experience in DNA and RNA-based assays
- Competence in mammalian cell culture and sterile technique
- Experience in NGS data analyses and interpretation (R and/or python) is a plus
- Experience in the design and construction of complex plasmid libraries is a plus • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and collaboration skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fluid, fast-paced work environment •
- Attention to detail and ability to proactively manage inventory, order reagents, consumables, and maintain cell lines
- Scientific rigor and ability to keep accurate lab records
