Location: Boston, MA Category: Part Time Non-Benefited Positions Posted On: Wed Sep 28 2022 Job Description:
The Biology Technician for MLA/MLT programs will be responsible for the preparation and organization of student laboratory work across all courses in the Medical Laboratory Technician department as assigned by the Program Director or Dean.
The Biology Technician for MLA/MLT programs will:
Organize the MLT/MLA laboratories and preparation room.
Order necessary equipment, chemicals, PPE.
Maintain laboratory records, prepare budgets, enter purchase requisitions.
Complete required safety training annually
Prepare materials for medical laboratory sections as needed; sets up laboratory experiments and related equipment and supplies for these labs (e.g. prepares solutions, reagents, buffers, and microbiology media; maintains microorganisms, mammalian and other cell cultures), and performs breakdown and cleanup of laboratory sections
Maintain laboratory related SOPs and assist program faculty with supplies, and technical needs related to experiments and laboratory exercises
Ensure that laboratory curriculum is consistent with current clinical practices and accreditation standards
Inform and recommend appropriate laboratory instructional tools and equipment purchase needs (laboratory supplies, etc.) with attention to cost, quality and full functionality.

Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Biology required;
Experience in a microbiology laboratory setting strongly preferred;
Demonstrated ability to prepare microbiology media, grow/maintain microorganisms, and establish and maintain a sterile environment for cell culture;
Knowledge of standard laboratory operation and coordination (ordering supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control), and ability to prepare stock chemicals according to given standards required;
Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety and hazardous waste containment procedures required;
Experience with chemical, hazardous waste, industrial hygiene, and/or environmental health preferred;
Demonstrated experience with standard office/laboratory computer programs (word, excel, various Vendor sites) to track inventory, order supplies, and communicate with internal/external business offices required;
Proven ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff and student population required

Salary: $30.03/hr. @ 18.5.hr. (non-benefitted position)
