Assistant/Associate Professor in Botany/Plant Ecology

Southeastern Oklahoma State University's Department of Biological Sciences invites applications for a tenure track faculty position in the area of Botany at the Assistant/Associate Professor level. The candidate will be expected to teach General Botany, Plant Taxonomy, Introductory Biology, and additional botany classes in your specialty. Preference will be given to candidates with a background in ecology, range management, fire ecology, and related topics. Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D. in Botany or a related discipline from an accredited university. ABD applicants may be considered but must demonstrate the ability to have the degree conferred before the anticipated start date.

The successful candidate must be committed to excellence in undergraduate education. Teaching experience at the college level is preferred. Candidates should be able to show potential for engaging in a research program, with an emphasis on the inclusion of undergraduates. The ability to further develop the Botany Program, to include additional course development and student recruitment, is preferred. Additional preferred qualifications include experiences or willingness to maintain an existing herbarium, teach online and/or hybrid courses, and potentially teach summers. This position also provides the potential for international collaboration.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The start date is August 1, 2023. Review of applications will begin on February 15 and continue until the position is filled.
