Job Location: Drake/College Station - COLLEGE STATION, TX
Position Type: Internship
Salary Range: $12.00 - $15.00 Hourly
Travel Percentage: Negligible
Assist in environmental compliance projects in a timely and accurate manner within the specified budget. This will primarily include execution of Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) field inspection and monitoring activities. The Environmental Intern will be expected to conduct site visits at client sites throughout Texas, and accurately complete field inspection reports. The Environmental Intern will report to the Division Manager and support the Compliance Division.
Employee shall have the following minimum duties and responsibilities:
Conduct fieldwork to support environmental projects at a variety of industrial sites.
Interpret technical information and assist with preparation of technical reports as needed, with particular focus on SWPPP plans.
Meet schedules and budgets for assigned projects.
Coordinate with client contacts to schedule site visits and gather the necessary information to complete report deliverables.
Lift and carry 25 pounds to include, but not limited to tools, sample containers and equipment.
Potential exposure to movement of heavy equipment on construction or roadway sites; potential exposure to hazardous dangerous chemicals and solvents, noise, dust, fumes, grease and oils, radiant and electrical energy, and vibration; all of which would require employee to follow proper safety procedures and utilize appropriate protective equipment.
Position may require protracted or irregular hours. Flexibility to work irregular hours is necessary due to client needs. Work responsibilities require out of town/overnight travel to Raba Kistner offices, client offices and project locations. Travel will be conducted by means of vehicle or commercial airline.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Employee shall possess the following minimum qualifications:
Completion of 2-3 years of college courses toward attainment of Bachelors Degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field.
Written and oral communication skills to effectively interact with clients and staff successfully. Clarity and understanding are a high priority to prevent costly and time-consuming errors.
Proficient writing and typing skills for preparing reports, and other documents.
Organizational skills to utilize company resources efficiently and effectively.
Must be able to work in a team environment, as well as independently at a job site.
Must be able to read and interpret information, present data in a resourceful manner, and skillfully gather and analyze information.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Earth, and other software.
Possess valid Texas drivers license and meet companys auto insurability requirements.
Present a professional appearance to best represent the firm.
Ability to comply with all attendance requirements as noted in most current edition of Employee Handbook.
Ability and willingness to travel out of town and overnight to client offices and project locations.
Must pass a drug test prior to employment and will be subject to post-accident, random, and reasonable cause testing during employment.
