Position Summary:
To manage all aspects of the Environmental & Consumer Health Division. To support the Environmental Health in the areas of program analysis, budget, and personnel. Target Hiring Range: $72,758 - $82,243 based on qualifications

Essential Job Functions:
Manage daily work of professional staff in Environmental and Consumer Health.Staff development- training and field evaluation.Hire, motivate, and evaluate including establishing employee goals and track progressCommunicate with local, state and federal enforcement agencies and prepare reports of enforcement and sampling activitiesDevelop and implement policies to maintain standardization in departmentOversee mosquito surveillance and pesticide application activitiesDevelop grant proposals and over see the expendituresRecommend and write amendments to Code of Ordinances and conduct public meetings on new regulations and educate on existing ones.Resolve complaints from citizens and regulated community.

Minimum Education & Work Experience :
? Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science or Environmental Health or related field
? 5 years of related work experience
? Registered Sanitarian License
? Certified Professional-Food Safety
? Hazardous Materials Certification
? Pesticide Applicator License
? Registered Environmental Health Specialist
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Preferred Knowledge - Abilities & Skills:
Education/ Experience: Master's Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science or Environmental Health or related field5 - 7 years related experienceKnowledge, Skills & Abilities: Extensive knowledge of environmental health practicesConsiderable knowledge of chemical and hazardous products and basic sanitarian practicesSkill in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)Skill in enforcing and communicating policies and procedures

Licenses & Certifications:
? Registered Sanitarian
? Hazardous Material Certification
? Registered Environmental Health Specialist
? Certified Professional in Food Safety
? Texas Department of Agriculture Non-Commercial Pesticide Applicator License
? Valid Class C Texas driver's license

Physical Tasks & Working Conditions:
The incumbent works in a typical office environment; relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Infrequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. May be exposed to biohazards and infections carried by humans and bodily fluids.
