Additional Information:

THE INSTITUTE OF BIOLOGICAL CHEMISTRY:

CAHNRS established the Institute of Biological Chemistry in 1980 to pursue fundamental research in the molecular biology and biochemistry of plants. Although studies are conducted in a wide variety of areas, work at the Institute focuses on basic plant research that may have potential applications in forestry and agricultural biotechnology. The Institute has grown to more than 100 researchers, including visiting professors, postdoctoral fellows, graduate and undergraduate students, and technicians in nine programs. The faculty publishes more than 90 papers in refereed journals and publications each year, and several have significant editorial duties for major scientific publications on plant research. One of the Institute's greatest strengths is its reputation as a training facility for outstanding young scientists. Plant researchers from all over the world come to the Institute for advanced training and collaborative research with the Institute's faculty. The various programs of the Institute also provide opportunities for students to obtain advanced degrees in biochemistry, chemistry, genetics and cell biology, molecular plant sciences, botany, microbiology, horticulture and the allied agricultural and biological sciences.
