About Catalyst: Our team at Catalyst Environmental Solutions provides consulting services in the areas of water resources management, energy, and land development/management. We serve as the trusted strategic advisors to adverse client base including private industry and the public sector and employ an interdisciplinary approach to problem-solving that synthesizes the work of our scientific, economic, engineering, and regulatory experts to create practical solutions for complex environmental and natural resource management issues. Our understanding of complex scientific linkages and regulatory requirements associated with environmental permitting and compliance, contributes to our success in assisting clients through the planning, permitting, monitoring, closure, and restoration processes. Catalyst has offices in Portland, OR; Santa Barbara, CA, Oxnard, CA; Oakland, CA; and Santa Monica, CA.

Role: We are seeking a junior to mid-level environmental scientist or engineer to be based in our Oakland, CA office. Applicants must currently reside in the San Francisco Bay area in order to be considered. This role consists of >50% field-based work in the East Bay area.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

* 2-5 years of professional experience
* Bachelor's or Masters Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrogeology, and/or Civil or Environmental Engineering
* Experience conducting Phase 1 and Phase 2 Environmental Site Assessments
* Experience characterizing contaminant distribution in soil, groundwater and soil vapor
* Experience with data interpretation and application of environmental screening levels
* Strong communication skills, both verbally and written
* Working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and MS Office Programs - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams

Role and Responsibilities:
Our team is searching for a junior to mid-level environmental scientist or engineer to add to our fast-growing team. The primary responsibilities include:

* performing a range of defined technical tasks, field work, collecting and analyzing data, and writing technical sections of reports, under direct supervision - primarily with regard to characterization of contaminants and remediation of contaminated sites.
* working on active construction sites, operating field equipment, and handling construction materials and supplies.
* installing and commissioning vapor intrusion mitigation systems.
* conducting Phase 1 and 2 Environmental Site Assessments
* managing and overseeing small tasks including being responsible for your assigned task, scope, deliverables, budgets, and schedule commitments.
* contributing to client relations and business development by representing Catalyst in a positive manner to clients, agencies, and other outside parties.
* working effectively as part of a team and making contributions that foster the growth of your practice area and Catalyst as a whole.
