Associate Director/Director, In Vivo Biology

The ideal candidate will provide experienced leadership in establishing an overall in vivo strategy and overseeing execution of in vivo pharmacology studies both internally and through external service providers. This individual will develop and implement a vision for the future of in vivo pharmacology at Cyteir and will build and lead a small team of in vivo pharmacologists developing in vivo oncology models and evaluating the efficacy and PK/PD characteristics of our small molecule drug candidates.

Job Responsibilities:

* Establish an in vivo strategy and oversee execution of in vivo pharmacology studies including tumor model selection, study design, and data and tissue collection
* Establish and manage collaborations with external CROs to deliver high quality in vivo pharmacology data packages
* Work collaboratively with the Discovery Biology and Translational Research teams to explore mechanism of action of lead compounds, analyze and interpret PK/PD relationships, and test biomarker hypotheses in vivo
* Serve on cross-functional project teams as the in vivo expert
* Lead productive discussions on key scientific and strategic issues with internal and external colleagues at all levels of the organization
* Author and gain approval for animal protocols with various IACUC bodies
* Review and ensure the quality of scientific data to meet regulatory expectations and author technical and regulatory documents to support advancement of therapeutics to clinical testing
* Act in accordance with all Cyteir Therapeutics policies and be a positive contributor to company culture

Job Qualifications:

* Ph.D. and 8+ combined years of postdoctoral research experience and/or in vivo experience in biotech and/or pharma industry
* Broad experience with in vivo tumor models and proficiency in various techniques including tumor implantation and measurement, administration of therapeutics (intraperitoneal, intravenous), bleeding, euthanasia, tumor dissection, processing and preservation
* Ability to write detailed in vivo protocols and direct the work of in vivo scientists
* Well organized and able to maintain detailed records of experimental work
* Ability to communicate clearly and decisively in an open, timely manner
* Demonstrated ability to effectively train, manage, and mentor junior scientists
* Experience working with external in vivo pharmacology service providers
* A sense of adventure and excitement to help build a successful biotech company and work in a highly dynamic research environment
