Biologist - Entry-level - Controlled Environment
Genome Editing Team
Contract: 12+ months
Location: Chesterfield, MO
Our client expects its colleagues to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Colleagues are also expected to disclose their vaccination status and if fully vaccinated, provide proof of vaccination status to Occupational Medicine. Our client defines fully vaccinated in alignment with CDC which is two weeks after completing the two-dose vaccine regimen or two weeks after completing the one-dose regimen. Additionally, colleagues are also required to comply with state, local and customer requirements.

Genome Systems Design is the organization that provides this capability by reimagining plant breeding through constant innovation and passionate execution. We currently have an opening for a Biologist in the Genome Editing Team. The position will be in Chesterfield, MO.
This individual will work collaboratively with other team members to align strategies for delivery of team goals toward improving breeding methodologies.
* Organizing and tracking experimental data
* Planting, transplanting, and pollinating plants
* Harvesting, shelling, and counting seed
* Tissue sampling
* Maintaining detailed record keeping and documentation
* Use of various IT tools/ team sites to manage day to day work
The successful candidate will work well with others yet be able to operate independently with general instruction, be attentive to detail, enjoy building relationships with partner groups, and demonstrate effective problem-solving skills.
Required Education and Skills:
* Minimum of B.S. degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or related natural sciences required
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
* Comfort and willingness to learn new IT tools and systems
* Experience growing and caring for plants
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to build strong relationships and networks across teams
Desired Education and Skills:
* Master's degree in biology, or related natural sciences
* Lab Experience is a plus
* Experience with Greenhouse work and plant care is valuable.
