Scientist, Discovery Biology
Cyteir Therapeutics is seeking a skilled and motivated Scientist to join the Discovery Biology team to help advance the development of our small molecule oncology portfolio. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality, lab-based research focused on identifying and validating new targets, developing, and implementing compound screening assays, and evaluating lead compounds in secondary bioassays and mechanism of action studies. This individual will have expertise in cancer biology, cell and molecular biology techniques, and mammalian tissue culture, with a track record of significant contributions to preclinical research efforts.

Job Responsibilities:

* Develop and implement robust and biologically relevant cell-based assays to support compound selection and characterization
* Deliver high-quality data to support lead candidate mechanism of action studies, patient selection strategies, and combination approaches
* Collect, analyze, and provide a written and/or verbal summary of the results of experiments to supervisor and scientific team
* Understand when assays are not performing properly, troubleshoot the problem, and provide possible solutions
* Maintain meticulous notes and up-to-date laboratory notebook records
* Expand your knowledge of cancer biology and drug discovery techniques by reading literature and attending scientific meetings
* Act in accordance with all Cyteir Therapeutics policies and be a positive influence on company culture

Job Requirements:

* Ph.D. in biological sciences and 0-2 years relevant experience. Consideration will be given to Msc candidates with significant industry experience and a track record of major contributions to drug programs
* Hands-on laboratory experience in molecular biology, cancer cell biology, or cancer cell metabolism including mammalian cell culture experience
* Have significant laboratory experience in one or more of the following: flow cytometry; apoptosis and cell death assays; cell metabolism assays; high-content imaging; medium-high throughput assay development and analysis
* Demonstrated ability to work well and contribute to a team environment
* Proficiency in basic data analysis and visualization software
* Positive attitude, curious, creative, and eager to learn
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task
* Solid written and verbal communication skills
* The courage to say, "I don't know" and to ask for help
* A sense of adventure and excitement to build a successful biotech company and work in a highly dynamic environment
