About the Opportunity

Currently, GDLS is looking for a full-time Environmental Health & Safety Engineer to join their team in Lima, Ohio.

The Environmental Health & Safety Engineer will be responsible for supporting the Company's efforts to ensure compliance with all Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) program expectations. They will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies and procedures. In addition, they will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the site's EHS Management System program and registrations.

Your duties will also include, but are not limited to:

Gathering and analyzing data, and using it to develop recommendations and educate employees on specific EHS matters
Collecting, managing, and reporting EHS data for periodic EHS regulatory documents and metrics
Maintaining EHS management system (ISO 14001 & ISO 45001) documents, internal audits, and related processes and program elements
Supporting EHS risk assessment related to jobs performed by employees, and developing and recommending risk mitigation strategies
Taking samples and measurements for Industrial Hygiene purposes, and reporting results and recommendations
Completing, documenting, and submitting required EHS reports and record-keeping information as necessary
Maintaining GDLS Lima's environmental permits
Performing studies to monitor and assess employees' exposure to health risks, and to measure the effectiveness of occupational health programs, policies and procedures
Maintaining current knowledge of environmental, occupational health and safety, and material transportation legislation

Please note that the successful candidate will be required to commute to the office in Lima, Ohio.

About You

In order to qualify for this role, you will need a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental or Health & Safety Science, Chemistry, Health Physics, Industrial Hygiene, or other related field of study. You will also need 7+ years experience in an environmental health and safety role.

The following skills and experience are also required:

Proficient knowledge of relevant laws, policies, and procedures including CAA, RCRA, CWA, and other related laws and regulations
Demonstrated ability to use verbal and written communication skills to manage projects, meetings, and customer service issues
Proven ability to be trusted with confidential information
Proficiency with office equipment, computers, and programs, including Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, cloud-based systems, and email programs
Ability to perform hands-on physical labor, including bending, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 25lbs

The right candidate must also be a US citizen capable of clearing and holding government security clearance.
