Assistant/Associate Professor, Biology (Zoo and Conservation Science Program)

Otterbein University, a comprehensive liberal arts institution, is accepting applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor (tenure-track) position in Biology (Zoo and Conservation Science Program) beginning August 2023.  We seek candidates with a demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion who will contribute to the department’s efforts to enhance diversity and provide an inclusive learning environment for all.  Qualifications: Ph.D. in biology (or a related field) or DVM, plus significant experience working in zoos and their conservation efforts.  The candidate must demonstrate an active research agenda; excellence in undergraduate teaching and mentoring; and a willingness to contribute to university life through advising and service. Preference will be given to candidates with an ability to teach courses such as conservation biology, intro to zoo and conservation science, animal behavior, animal reproduction or other courses within the program. Our new faculty member will have the opportunity to develop a course in their area of expertise. The successful applicant should have a desire to contribute to, and potentially direct, our nationally recognized program in Zoo and Conservation Science. Responsibilities: Teach courses specific to the Zoo and Conservation Science Program, as well as other courses in the major, and potentially within the university’s Integrative Studies Program. Become a member of the steering committee for the Zoo and Conservation Science Program in addition to being a member of the Department of Biology and Earth Science.
