Zinus USA Inc. is looking for an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist who has experience in the manufacturing or chemical industry.

MAJOR FUNCTIONS:

* Respond to environmental, safety, health and industrial hygiene concerns from employees.
* Champion environmental, safety, health and industrial hygiene program initiatives to promote and enhance safe workplace and well-being of employees.
* Cultivate kind relationships with supervisors and maintain daily communication with production employees and supervisors.
* Assist EHS Manager as needed to meet legal and regulatory requirements and departmental goals.
* Assist in the development of OSHA, EPA or other required Environmental, Health, Safety and Industrial Hygiene Procedures and Training.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Implement environmental, safety health and industrial hygiene programs and processes as determined by management.
* Conduct workplace injury and incident investigations and make corrective action recommendations to EHS Manager.
* Conduct environmental, safety, health and industrial hygiene audits on personnel, equipment, the chemical or mattress manufacturing process and the facility as assigned by management.
* Conduct or facilitate environmental, safety, health and industrial hygiene training sessions for employees and vendors or contractors
* Coordinate with HR, Supervisors and Managers to track required training and provide assistance where needed to ensure training requirements and compliance requirements being are met.
* Assist in the preparation of applications for and receipt of necessary Environmental, Safety and Health permits required to operate facility.
* Assist in the preparation of reports as are necessary to carry out the functions of the department.
* Keep department supervisor informed of significant problems that jeopardize the achievement of objectives, and those which are not being addressed adequately at the line management level.
* Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, and regulatory changes as related to all areas of EHS.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES :

* Assumes other duties as assigned by Manager and Director.

PREREQUISITES FOR THE JOB:

* Bachelor's degree required (preferably in environmental health safety or risk management).
* At least 3 years of experience in the manufacturing or chemical industry and understanding the specific safety issues inherent to manufacturing sites.
* Should have a broad knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards with regard to manufacturing or chemical industry.
* Familiar with - EPA Risk Management Program (RMP) or OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM).
* OSHA 10- or 30-hour training certificate.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Intermediate skill level in Excel and PowerPoint required.
* Well-developed verbal and written communication skills, including able to communicate with team members from various backgrounds and positional levels.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

* Must be able to access all areas of the machinery.
* Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
* Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to complete daily tasks.
* Must be able to lift and carry up to 45 pounds.
