Job Description Senior Scientist, Computational Biology

JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking an innovative, collaborative and accomplished Computational Biologist / Data Scientist to join our Data Sciences platform team to work on a variety of genomics projects in the field of immuno-oncology and autoimmune diseases. The individual will work on internal and external datasets, including next generation single-cell sequencing data. A critical component of the job will be to develop innovative analysis strategies to generate focused hypotheses for identifying new therapeutic targets. The successful candidate will join an experienced and innovative team of scientists using cutting edge genomics techniques and single-cell sequencing to discover new therapeutic targets.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Generate meaningful biological hypotheses from genomics data
  • Partner with other biologists to identify new drug discovery targets
  • Apply and/or develop new data-mining techniques to integrate, interpret, and visualize large data-sets
  • Advise wet lab scientists and contribute to experimental study design in order to generate quality data
  • Participate in the development of a single-cell analysis and target identification platform


REQUIREMENTS
  • Ph.D. in a quantitative scientific field (e.g., Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, Computational Biology, Genomics, Genetics, Physics)
  • At least 5 years of experience in computational biology and genomics
  • Depth of background in cancer biology, single-cell genomics, or immunology
  • Strong scientific publication record
  • Proven ability to innovate, apply and develop new analytical strategies and tools to extract actionable insights from large genomic datasets
  • Extensive experience with data mining methods
  • Proficiency with Python, R, or other scripting language for statistical computing and graphics.
  • Experience with cloud computing is a plus
  • Attention to detail with the ability to view data at a summary level
  • Strong written, oral, and public speaking communication skills
  • Collaborative team player with desire to work cross functionally
