What youâll learn & achieve::
The Regulatory Technical Program Specialist for consumer products will provide a high level of quality support for both internal and external clients based on their expertise in consumer product regulations for supported industries including cosmetics, personal care, electronics, cleaning products, children's products and toys, and more. Current focus will require extensive knowledge of Canada and United States consumer product regulations at the federal, provincial/state, and local levels, with the willingness to support planned expansion into other regions as business growth warrants. This position will interface with many internal contacts, including our Chief Supply Chain Scientist, Product Management, Software Engineering, Customer Service, and our retail and consumer packaged goods regulatory and business teams. The Technical Program Specialist will identify software changes needed to our supply chain solutions to proactively plan and execute on new and changing regulations. A primary focus of this role will be communication of pending data and regulatory changes to our retailer and supplier clients, and understanding potential client impact (operations, financial, etc.) of proposed changes. The Regulatory Technical Program Specialist may also provide advisory services to clients when requested. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain strong knowledge of current and pending regulations and initiatives.Develop monitoring strategies to identify the impact of proposed regulatory changes and emerging initiatives.Evaluate, interpret, and clearly summarize complex technical and regulatory requirements and initiatives to determine their impact and execute a plan to update UL's Supply Chain SaaS platforms.Develop a deep understanding of potential client impact (operations, financial, etc.) of proposed changes (data or regulatory).Communication of pending data and regulatory changes to our retailer and supplier clients.Train colleagues, as appropriate, in these matters.Use this knowledge to deploy strategies, in collaboration with multi-functional teams (i.e., Customer Service, Software Engineering, Regulatory), to ensure successful initiatives/compliance activities.Provide regulatory knowledge to support the Marketing and Sales teams as necessary.Represent UL as appropriate in public facing forums, including with trade associations.Perform other duties as requested.

What makes you a great fit::
University Degree (Equivalent to bachelor's degree) in Consumer Product Law, Science or equivalent discipline with 3-5 years relevant experience dealing with consumer products. Strong working knowledge of chemical in consumer product regulations in North America, including consumer product-focused regulations in Canada from Health Canada, Environment and Climate Change Canada, Natural Resources Canada, Transport Canada, and provincial-level regulations such as packaging Extended Producer Responsibility.For the United States, strong working knowledge of consumer-product regulations from the Consumer Product Safety Commission, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Transportation, and state-level authorities such as the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (ie., Prop 65) and California Air Resources Board.Demonstrated effective time management to handle and prioritize multiple projects or streams of work to ensure timely and accurate completion of workStrong interpersonal skills are required, as there will be both internal and external public speaking opportunities representing UL.Experience working in a heavily matrixed environment.Proficient user of Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel, and Teams.UL has COVID-19 protocols and policies in place to ensure the safety of our employees, customers and clients.
