Overview of the Project:
DAI works at the cutting edge of international and US-based development, combining technical excellence, professional project management, and exceptional customer service to solve our clients' most complex problems. Since 1970, DAI has worked in 150 countries, providing comprehensive development solutions in areas including economic development, private sector development and financial services, digital development, democratic governance and public sector management, economics and trade, and energy and climate change among other sectors. Clients include private corporations and foundations, international development agencies, international lending institutions, and host-country governments.
DAI seeks a Communications Manager for an anticipated program funded by a private institution. This program works to improve U.S. small businesses' financial resilience and growth and, over the life of the five-year program, aims to empower five million U.S. small businesses to succeed in the digital economy, with explicit focus on women and entrepreneurs of color. The program will issue grants to provide technical and financial assistance to national and local community stakeholders, such as Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) and Community Financial Institutions (CFI) to help solve capital access issues, and technical assistance organization that strengthen the capacity of small businesses and further enable e-commerce. Position is contingent upon project funding and client approval.
Responsibilities
The Communications Manager is responsible for developing the programs communications strategy and overseeing the communications firm to produce strategic outreach to promote the program and grantees.
* Develop a communications strategy for the program.
* Source, hire, and manager a communications firm with experience working with the private sector.
* Work with the firm and client to present progress toward achievement of overall program objectives and outputs effectively and efficiently.
* Provide technical support to grantees on communications deliverables.
* Work with the firm to develop program marketing materials such as success stories, blogs, social media, presentations.
* Update and modify the program's communications strategy to reflect evolving communications priorities.
* Review project external communications to ensure quality control.
Qualifications
* Minimum of a Bachelor Degree, plus at least 7 years of relevant experience with 3-5 years of experience in communications preferred.
* Experience managing a communications subcontractor preferred
* Experience in or understanding of the U.S. digital economy with a focus on supporting small businesses preferred.
* Experience working with or for CDFI, CFIs, and/or other small business lending institutions preferred.
* Experience in multimedia and graphic design preferred.
* Exceptional writing and editing skills.
* Experience working on private sector funded programs preferred.
* A degree in English, communications, or related area is required.
* Professional proficiency in spoken and written English.
