As a Biological Science Laboratory Technician (Animal) within the National Wildlife Health Center, some of your specific duties will include:
-Provide general husbandry (feed, water, cage cleaning) for a wide variety of laboratory and wild-caught birds, mammals, amphibians/reptiles, and fish in accordance with the Animal Welfare Act and the Public Health Service Guide.
-Maintain inventory of supplies and materials.
Perform detailed animal health observations and maintains accurate records.
-Clean, decontaminate, and sterilize animal facility and equipment.
-Assist veterinary and research staff in transporting and restraining animals, administering medications, collecting samples, taking scientific measurements, anesthesia, and euthanasia.
