This is based in Manila, Philippines. It is a contract/consultant position.

Job Summary:

As the Energy Program Research Analyst, you will support technical research and stakeholder engagement on approaches and best-practices related to implementing energy sector decarbonization and transition to net-zero GHG emissions. In this position, you will work as part of a dynamic, agile research team preparing a set of publications, including working papers, case studies, and articles. Your specific activities will include preparation of research and project materials, conducting desk research, drafting content and reviewing, compiling, and editing draft input for said publications. Additionally, you will support overall project management and outreach and engagement on behalf of the Energy Program, which may require helping to coordinate schedules and timelines, preparing presentation materials, and drafting articles or other public-facing products.

Job Responsibilities:

Research and Analysis 60%
  • Working closely with a technical team, the research analyst will support and/or lead background desk research and conduct literature reviews on, among others, energy transition frameworks and solutions that contribute to long-term goals of governments and private sector players
  • Synthesize feedback from ecosystem partners, government and private sector stakeholders, and WRI colleagues to identify key elements that can inform and support publications that may be needed
  • Gather examples of approaches and best-practices for consideration as possible case studies
  • Prepare summary materials and distill key literature and research inputs for review and discussion among WRIs wider research team/s
  • Support the review and editorial process for key knowledge products
  • Contribute to high-quality and pertinent WRI knowledge products including research papers, reports, blogs, presentations, and other written research material as may be needed

Project Management 30%
  • Support day-to-day project management including scheduling meetings, and keeping track of delivery of key activities and milestones for the development of research products
  • Prepare meeting materials and presentations and support note-taking and summary reports
  • Support reporting and communication to donors and key partners about the progress being made by WRI and partners,a s well as impacts we are having
  • Oversee the monitoring of project outcomes and prepare reports to funders

Outreach and Engagement 10%
  • Support SE Asia Engagement Lead in stakeholder outreach, set-up and agenda-setting for meetings, preparing necessary background materials and presentation (e.g. Powerpoint, Canva, or Slido) decks
  • Support external meetings and events, technical workshops and other efforts to collect feedback and input on research
  • Contribute to presentation materials and articles to disseminate research results

Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental policy, climate change, energy planning, or related field. Masters degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of full-time work experience in the environmental, climate or related fields, ideally within an international non-profit organization
  • Knowledge of and practical experience on energy transition dynamics, climate change policy and planning, and Philippine electric power sector structures
  • Strong analytical and research skills and proven ability to deliver high-quality work
  • Excellent writing, editing and interpersonal communication skills
  • Great attention to details and ability to work well in a team, manage multiple priorities, and work under tight deadlines
