About the role:

Join Takeda as a Scientist I where you will engineer cells by designing and implementing strategies to knockdown or express genes of interest. You will also design and perform phenotypic characterization analysis: flow cytometry, immunofluorescence, gene expression, protein secretion. As part of the Cell Therapy Product Development Research team, you will report to the Head of Cell Therapy Product Development Research, and work with the Gastroenterology Drug Discovery Unit (GI DDU) organization.

How you will contribute:

Culture and differentiation of primary cells (e.g, isolated from blood or tissue), cell lines, and iPSCs
Engineer cells by designing constructs and transfecting cells to express or suppress genes of interest
Characterize cells by flow cytometry, qPCR, immunofluorescence, MSD, ELISA, scRNA-seq
Develop and validate cell-based functional assays using platforms like Incucyte
Design, troubleshoot, and develop SOPs
Detailed record keeping of data, samples inventories, and cell banks
Analyze experimental data using standard software packages
Communicate experimental results to team members within and between groups across sites
Manage a small team of associate scientists

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

PhD in a scientific discipline (or equivalent)
MS in a scientific discipline (or equivalent) with 4+ years relevant experience, or
BS in a scientific discipline (or equivalent) with 6+ years relevant experience
Degree in cell biology, molecular biology, stem cell biology, developmental biology, genetics, or related field of science
3+ years of cell engineering experience
3+ years of hands-on experience with iPSC culture methods
Experience using common software packages to analyze data sets (GraphPad Prism, Excel, FlowJo)
Experience in immunology and immune cell culture is desirable
Experience isolating cells from blood or tissue for culture is a plus
Experience with direct differentiation of human cells to terminal cell types is a plus
Experience with development and validation of cell-based or molecular assays is a plus
