About the role:
At Takeda, we are a forward-looking, world-class R&D organization that unlocks innovation and delivers transformative therapies to patients. By focusing R&D efforts on four therapeutic areas and other targeted investments, we push the boundaries of what is possible in order to bring life-changing therapies to patients worldwide.
Join Takeda as a Research Associate II - Cell Biologist where you will perform routine lab assignments and protocols; contribute to design of and implementation of improvements for routine procedures.
How you will contribute:
You will culture and differentiate iPSCs to terminal cell types in 2-D or 3-D culture formats
You will evaluate and troubleshoot differentiation protocols for cell manufacturing: cell culture and cell engineering process development and optimization, scaling, QC, SOP writing and tech transfer
Perform phenotypic characterization analysis: flow cytometry, immunofluorescence, ELISA, cell-based assays, and gene expression
Produce cells required for pre-clinical studies.
Under minimal supervision, you will also perform multiple assigned research experiments with efficiency, accuracy and attention to detail (e.g. selects methods, troubleshoots routine and some non-routine procedures)
Exercise technical judgement in execution of specialized procedures and interpretation of complex results
Initiate routine and non-routine problem investigation and recommend solutions
Culture and differentiation of human iPSCs and iPSC-derived cells (2D/3D)
Experimental design for flow cytometry, qPCR, immunofluorescence, or functional assays
Develop robust methods to support GMP-compatible cell engineering workstreams
Follow, troubleshoot, and produce SOPs
Production of cells for preclinical studies
Analysis of experimental data using standard software packages
Detailed record keeping and ability to effectively communicate experimental results to team members
Develop knowledge of cell engineering methods
Record keeping of data and inventories of samples and cell banks
Collaborate with other members of the DDU for assay development and validation
Engage with vendors and external service providers
Attendance at scientific conferences
BS in a scientific discipline (or equivalent) with 2+ years experience, or MS in a scientific discipline
Demonstrate technical knowledge of a scientific discipline
Understand specific scientific mechanisms of why a procedure works
Experience culturing and differentiating human cell types in 2-D or 3-D formats, including adherent and bioreactor culture processes
Hands-on experience with FACS/flow cytometry methods is desirable
Experience with RNA isolation, qRT-PCR, immunofluorescence, ELISA, and common in vitro cellular analysis methods
Experience with methods for gene editing, plasmid design, and molecular cloning is desirable
Experience in immunology and immune cell culture is desirable
Use common software packages to analyze data sets (GraphPad Prism, Excel, FlowJo)
Experience in GMP process is a plus
Experience drafting SOPs and batch records is a plus
