Job Description We are looking for a qualified GIS Forester to work collaboratively with our Oregon Forestry Division in Eugene, OR. About The Position * Maintain and advance ESRI-based Geographic Information System enterprise architecture * Prepare GIS layers, applications, and data sets for various departments * Perform data queries and analyses using GIS for internal and contract technical specialists * Maintain and update feature classes and associated data in relational databases * Generate maps and reports needed by the Company * Develop new tools to support changing business needs (e.g., image analysis) * Provide technical assistance to other staff, foresters, and technical specialists relating to standard data collection tools and systems (e.g., iPad, GPS, various programs, and applications) * Develop and manage integrated applications that assist with efficient data collection * Assist with data collection for annual timber harvest depletion * Work in a dynamic team environment in a healthy and safe manner following established procedures Qualifications * Bachelor of Science degree in Geography, Earth Science, Computer Science, Forestry, or related Natural Resources discipline * Demonstrated understanding of spatial data, best practices, and analysis * 2 or more years of experience using ESRI software preferred * Strong computer skills required; including proficiency with SQL databases, Microsoft Access; coding skills are a plus (e.g. SQL, Python, VBA, etc.) * Familiarity with field data collection tools such as iPads, GPS, and file sharing/data management applications * Must be able to demonstrate good organizational skills with superior attention to detail, specifically as it pertains to QA/QC * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills * Positive attitude, self-motivated, ability to work as a "team" member in a crew environment * Must possess a valid driver's license Why Join Our Team?
